Frederickson International Limited chasing Tesco Mobile "debt"
Getting seriously sick of this company now, the way they try and contact me and the stuff they say to whoever answers...
Basically, I got an iphone 4 on the release day. 11 months later (12 month contract) it packed in. I sent it back, waited over a week for them to send me another one. when it turned up it didn't work either.
Rangup to ask for another one, they wouldn't send one without me going through the whole rigmarole of sending that one back first and then waiting another week for them to decide whether to fix it or send me another one.
Not satisfied with that timescale I eplained to them I was in my final month, and if they wanted my continued custom then please send me another phone next day delivery and I'd give the courier this one to take straight back. No, they wouldn't. I was left with the option of waiting another week or taking the phone to the Apple Store myself.
Although it took me 4 hours, and a 130 mile round trip, I got a replacement handset.
Unhappy with Tesco's service I then cancelled my card so they couldn't take any money until we agreed on a final bill. They never sent me one. I never heard another word from them, only texts saying my bill was available online. I have looked online and don't agree with the amounts, they're trying to bill me for line rental a month after I left, as well as the last months bill.
They also made it awkward for me to port my number and it took 4 days due to them witholding details.
A few weeks ago I started getting texts from Frederickson. thinking it was a scam I ignored them, until I googled them. They then sent a letter saying I owe them money for a unpaid Debt. It's not a debt, it's an unpaid bill.
I rang Tesco's to discuss, they were adamant they couldn't stop Frederickson from contacting me, and the only wat to stop them was to pay the full amount. I refused, said the bill was still in dispute due to their poor service, and that I would only deal with Tesco and not a debt collector.
Sent an email to Tesco complaints about it all. They still insist I must pay in full and to Frederickson. My argument is that I signed an agreement, an agreement that I will pay for their services. If I'm not happy with the sevice then I'm not paying! they can't realistically expect me to just pay up when they simply aren't delivering?
I've offered to pay the final month (around half the amount they are asking for) and nothing more. And have also said I will invoice them for the 4 hours of my time and 130 mile journey for me to fix the phone myself.
Now got threats of court action from Frederickson. I've ignored them. I've only rang them once, to give them a load of verbal abuse.
What would you recommend I do from here? I simply refuse to pay a pack of scumbags like these when it's not even a "debt".

You have made a rod for your own back by cancelling the payment.
You owe the extra month as you needed to give 30 days' notice and didn't in the 11th month.
Regrettably, your post doesn't encourage me to help you as you obviously think that you are right and the companies you are dealing with are "scumbags".

You sound like a real charmer and I hope they do take you to court.0 -
The debt is of your own making, and from reading your post, completely accurate.0

how did they fail to provide anything? they said send the phone back and we'll get areplacement he didnt and went to get another phone then just refused to pay his bill?
how is tesco in the wrong at all with this prowla? What goes around-comes around0 -
And I hope he wins, because it appears that he was sold a service that the provider failed to deliver.
There are ways of doing things that do not involve the attitude expressed by HA8HA8HA8 (just read his User Name again).
People working for companies that have systems in place do not automatically need to be referred to as scumbags. And I do not support people who write "I've only rang them once, to give them a load of verbal abuse."0 -
After reading the OP's post I don't think he has a leg to stand on because Tesco did their bit by asking for the phone back to repair it but instead he did a 130 mile round trip to Apple to get a replacement but why oh why cancel the DD with only one month to go?
He is going to screw himself over and ruin his credit history over something which I would say is minor to say the very least.0 -
Read again. They provided me with a faulty handset, then tried to make me go through the whole process of sending it back for a repair. I'd already waited a week or more, I wasn't prepared to wait again when it was their problem and they were basically wanting to see the handset first to see if i'd broken it!
THAT is the issue. They failed to provide by failing to send me a workign handset, and then failing to make any effort to rectify the issue other than going through their standard repair claim channels.
I went to the Apple store as that was the only way I was going to get a replacement iphone without having to wait another week or more for them to do it. This was also under the advice of their customer services agent, it was his only solution.
I'm not calling Tesco, scumbags, I'm referring to Frederickson, and the stinking attitude they have on the phone on the limited occasions when they do get through. The tactics they employ are discgraceful. Most of the time they're ringing me at home (when they know I'm probably at work) and leaving messages saying I'm in debt and owe then money. If they ring my mobile it's a recorded message. They don't make any real effort to speak to me. If you try and discuss with them all you get is some idiot barking the same "you need to pay" mantra. They are not to be bargained with.
Spoken to Tesco's many many times and they basically couldn't care less that their customer service is rubbish, they just still expect me to pay up anyway. Sorry, but I won't pay for poor service.
I've had a similar problem before with orange, I gave up paying them 6 months into a contract as they kept sending me faulty phones (5 in a row). I won that one.
I had an issue with 3 where I sent a faulty phone back (charger socket had snapped off the board) and they said it was water damaged and not covered by warranty! all lies. I stopped paying them too. They did the same and got more debt collection scum involved who relentlessly chased me for 6 months. I reported them to oftel/ofcom and never paid them another penny.0
