Damage to car AGAIN !!!!

My Dad lives in a block of flats near a town centre. He doesnt drive and doesnt have a car.

Unfortunately, even though his deeds specify a car parking space that he owns, none of the spaces are marked. Unfortunately, its also not directly outside his house.

This is the 3rd time now I've parked in said space and come out to find someone has damaged the car - keyed down the side.

All of the residents are old retired people and every time I park there the curtains are twitching. On about 5 occasions someone has come out and shouted at me (note, not asked if I am legally parking there - one guy even told me I couldnt park in Dads space because he used that one and didnt care what the deeds said!)

I remember last time I phoned the police but they weren't interested at all!

Pretty sure I know whats happened this time. Got a different car, its Xmas shopping in the nearby town so someones assumed Ive dumped the car there.

Any they say young people are troublemakers.... :-(

Its only a cheap car not a new one so not too bothered about it but so annoyed that people can be like this. Never right to take the law into your own hands like this especially when I'm perfectly right to be able to park there!

If I ever catch them there will be big trouble, regardless of how old they are and I wont be going to the police to sort it out.

Old people are f**kers for this sort of stuff..... They don't like confrontation, so they sneak out and f**k with your motor instead.

Park there again, walk round the corner, find a spot and wait...... Guarantee they'll be at it within 5 minutes. Either confront them (they'll deny it), or photograph them, then call the Police.

Id get your dad to speak to the management committee and request that all parking spaces are numbered and allocated to each flat.

He may also want to check if he is required to display any form of permit.
When you have confirmed which space belongs to your dad I would write a letter explaing which space belongs to your father (include diagram or picture of space if they remain unnumbered and that you park there with your fathers permission. You may also add that any future damage or use of the bay by other residents will be reported to both the management committee and the police. I would then post a copy opf the letter through every flat door clearly marking it 'delivered by hand'.

Yeh. Its unbelievable that this sort of thing happens. The old people who live by my dad are well weird. They seem to have a thing that someone is trying to take something of theirs from them.

The thing is they probably just assumed I didnt have a right to park there without checking.

Not helped by management company not even marking the spaces. Its a free for all. And stupidly my Dad space is not even next to his flat!

you could always fit a small video recorder in the car and see if the culprit returns
apart from dumping a skip there for 3 months cant see what else you can do
    so annoying isnt it
  • Who wont do it...Dad? does he want you to visit?

Who is your management company? A private firm, or a housing association?

Next time, ask him why he's not parked there; if he's coming out shouting at you he's clearly at home.
