we are all here for differing reasons. those of us on disability benefits/IB/ESA etc dont chose to be disabled/sick.
We all have to go for these medicals, and many others have been and its been traumatic, but they havent moaned and groaned about it, talking about going to see local mp's and all that rubbish. Now...take someone like this who is rattling on about doing just that and who, as it turns out, is not telling the truth about their real situation. do you think she will tell them she does go out? does manage to do strenuous gardening with a 'bad back'?
no... and that is why i went through the posts to see for myself...so i am not digging...just showing the posts that she made herself.
especially after she wrote : I DO NOT GO OUT...Do you know what it is like to be agorophobic?

Clearly she doesnt know either, because someone with true agorophobia does not get out and about like she does.... and what do you think she will tell the medical examiner at the medical when the taxpayer pays for her special home visit because she DOES NOT GO OUT? i cant go out, but i do, but i have agorophobia? nonsense...
if you are claiming benefits and not telling them the truth then you deserve to be ousted...:(:(

Like i said im not saying that the op is right or wrong but unless you know 100 per cent that the op is not telling the truth about her illness i dont think its right to publicly mock her my oh is disabled has gone through the atos medical and has been put in the right group where he can do some form of job with the right help but not everybody has a been so lucky with atos and it is worrying having to attened these meeting and most people would try and get out of going to them if they could and the op has said that she is happy for a home vist for the medical so the op isnt trying to avoid it alltogether

My late mother was agorophobic on and of for many years of her life and like most conditions some days was better than others and she could make small trips out the house other times she woudnt leave the house for weeks on end beening agorophobic dosnt always mean your housebound like i said above im not taking sides but sometimes on here poeple pick on others and thats not nice or what this site is about what that old saying if you havent got anything nice to say then dont say it at all thanks x

i do appreciate what youre saying, but have you read the posts? would your relative have been quite as out and about as this even on a good day? interacting with people like this when out?
was your relative claiming benefits that we all have to pay for one way or another? Dont forget, she actually said in bold: I DO NOT GO OUT....do you know what its like to be agorophobic..

i have nothing but real empathy for those deserving it ..i really do.. i have a daughter with mental health problems, and when i say that she cannot go into a supermarket without extreme distress, thats what i mean...
i think you also have to bear in mind that the original reason for the thread was because she says that she could not go to the medical centre. couldnt walk without crutches etc. yet.....she tends her garden, which she has posted photos of, and it is very well maintained. no raised beds so she doesnt have to bend(she says she has a very bad back)..i can tell you right now..i have a very bad 'back', or should i say spine..... i cant even wash my own feet...gardening? forget it..good days and bad days........not even on the best day could someone who has a permanent disability with their spine be able to do gardening without using raised beds.

sorry if i sound like i dont care, but the fact is, i care so much about those who need it getting the right benefits, and those that dont , showing them up for what they are.....benefit cheats..

i do appreciate your opinion though
    x:)

There is only one way I know of to avoid a ATOS assessment (when they demand one) and still claim, but as it involves no longer receiving any medical care from anyone, I wont go into further details, in case someone is mad enough to actually try it. Especially as its not 100 percent certain to work.

    Pretend youre dead ? :rotfl:

Im not being funny, but when reading posts like these and then others which tell you how to ''get around'' the system, it makes my blood boil.
No wonder DWP DLA/ESA are cracking down..
I can barely move let alone walk, yet i have had to fight an appeal to get my DLA for the simple fact was ''they didnt believe me'' inspite of medical evidence proving that i am in fact disabled.
After i fought and won (however mobility was only awarded at low rate which i am still fighting for) the woman who ended up dealing with my claim apologised and said ''Im sorry about that but we cant be too careful'' which in a way is true.
I am housebound, 98% of the time my carer does most of the things i need. I can drive, just (i need to be lifted in and out of the car as i no longer have a swivel seat) But without mobility i cant even get a wheelchair, which would improve things a thousand fold. Im still on the waiting list for one......

Am i feeling sorry for myself that i am disabled? NO, im trying to make the best of a bad situation.
Am i angry at being called a liar, just because i claim money im ENTITLED too? Damn right i am. I didnt ask to end up this way, whilst friends party the night away in clubs/pubs etc, and im home on the sofa cos i cant move.
Going through medicals to prove to the DWP i am as ill as my GP,nurse,Specialist, OT, and hospital doctors say i am... annoying, but again you have too many people ''blagging'' the system.

Its no wonder the Govt wants to cut down the amount being spent. To be fair i agree with it... but please put us genuine disabled people first.

    - I agree with everything you say, and in particular I like the line I left in above

Can I just say, lynn, and this is in no defence of the OP who could, I believe, attend a medical, but, not everyone with real agrophobia, is housebound. There are those suffering from it, who can go out doors.

Absolutely agree with your last sentence.
Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.
