What did you want the inscription to be ?

What is the actual inscription ?

What is it that you want, is it something that you dont really want on there, wrong information or somethings.

What on earth would you parents think about 2 of their children squabbling about things that really in the grand scheme of things
    doesnt really matter.

Or is it a case of one upmanship.

Did the forms that you signed specify the inscription you're giving permission for? If so I would think a letter from a solicitor should do the trick nicely.

Is there a mention of any professional company or guild on his advertising? They might be able to provide guidance.

tess, I think you may have just lost any sympathy you had from me. YOU are being very unreasonable here!
er - its NOT your grave or YOUR headstone! YOU are not dead are you? and doesnt your brother have equal rights to have an input?
he was probably sneaky because you are being rather uppity on the fact that YOU own the gravesite.

But, as you own the grave and if you INSIST on being childish - then order a NEW headstone from a different stonemason and ask them to remove the old one and install the new one! at your own expense.

For goodness sake it was HIS mother too, you may own the grave but you don't own the rights to express your and your brothers love for your mother.

You sound like a petulant child, if this is the way you've been carrying on over 'your' grave no wonder your brother took matters into his own hands. You should be ashamed.
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear
  • If the OP owns the grave then yes potentially it is her grave and grave stone if that is where she chooses to be buried.

Tess the stone mason should be a member of BRAMM (google them) and you can complain to them.

Let me know if I can give you any more help.

...and you get my nomination for one of the most singularly childish things I have ever read on these boards.

You really need to grow up; presumably your Mother's death was a loss to both of you so as long as there's nothing wrong with the inscription my suggestion is to man up, stop whinging and concentrate on the more important issue of mending bridges with your sibling before another one of you pops off this mortal coil.

You really need to take a step back and look at yourself, it really isnt worth falling out with your brother over this.

Like I said before, she was mother to both of you and she would hate what you are doing,

You are maybe taking your anger at your mum for dying out on your brother, its natural but enough is enough.

Give him a ring and a virtual hug. We are only here for a short time in the scheme of things, and bitterness is really not worth making you ill over.
