builders here 8:00. Neighbour complains 8:00:45

Options
Oh dear :(

Neighbour, well known by the rest of the road for his difficult attitude, raced over here no more than a minute after the builders had parked up in their transit, to moan about where they had parked.

Didn't have a chance to explain that they had literally just got out of the van & that I would ask them to move, before he started off on a rant.

I suspect that he will try to complain to the council about anything & everything. Out of interest, does anyone know if there is a "working hours" guideline anywhere, as I think he may try to moan about the guys working unsociable hours (they started at 8:00)

It's gonna be a long old build at this rate......

An 8am start should be absolutely fine. Check with your council's environmental health department, but where I am, noisy work (by companies, not DIY) is allowed Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm.

thanks - just checked as you suggested, and the lady at the planning office said 8:00 was very reasonable. Just need to work out what he can complain about & have the answers ready - has anyone ever had weird complaints from neighbours?

Most of us have a "Weird" neighbour. Of one sort or another.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

think you live the other side to my next door neighbour,he is a law unto himself when it comes to him doing his own work,we have had 20 year of his constant moaning, he got the building work stopped on my kitchen extension because he said it was one brick higher than plans! building inspector came out same day and all was fine, and parking on the front of his house(not blocking drive) if anyone dares! will get a visit from the police.he is a nightmare.

Ah, I love that song ! It would indeed be nice to get along with everyone. Unfortunately, some people's behaviour does not easily lend themselves to good natured neighbourliness. This guy is well known for being difficult. We've just had British Gas making repairs to main along our street & he's gone and planted bamboo sticks and string round his front lawn to delineate his property & painted white the bits of the feet holding up the barriers that encroach his driveway. Oh, and don't get me started about the time he asked people attending a wake to move their cars

Sounds very like him - do you live in West Sussex by any chance?!
