some peeps are just plain nuts.

I very strongly suspect that he falls into this category - when submitting our planning application he wittered on about how he would involve the local MP (who attends cabinet meetings) if our plans were passed. As if he would get involve with a piddling little house extension! Delusions of grandeur most definitely.

we have just had an extention built, our builders travelled from up norf to us and were usually on site between 06.30-0700 , altough they kept the noisy power tools off until 8 am , but we told our neighbours either side what was happening and had no problems whatsoever, its good to get on with your neighbours!

    Hi

Our over 70 year old neighbor but one, likes to use his shot gun in his allotment at the end of his garden for pest control purposes!

One Sunday he shot the pigeons out of the tree at the end of our garden (half in our garden half in the allotment) and it took ages for our baby to stop crying!

The police say he has permission from the allotment association.

Oh well - we just keep indoors when he's out.

Whilst he can shoot on the allotments if he has permission from the land owner I’m pretty sure that shooting things on other peoples property (like the pigeons) is very much against the law as is discharging the weapon so that the shell/pellets land outside the allotments.

I’d get on to the local firearms officer and maybe prompt a review of the guy’s licence.

It is good if you can get on with your neighbours - some people just don't make it that easy ! We warned our neighbours about the building work, and popped around with a bunch of flowers to our neighbours to both sides last week to remind them again that it's starting today. This particular neighbour lives opposite, is renowned for being a bit antagonistic to everyone, including utility companies who are carrying out safety work & people who have parked on a private road in order to attend a wake

    nuff said I think?!

    I agree - I just hope that it's not me :D

Ah, I love that song ! It would indeed be nice to get along with everyone. Unfortunately, some people's behaviour does not easily lend themselves to good natured neighbourliness. This guy is well known for being difficult. We've just had British Gas making repairs to main along our street & he's gone and planted bamboo sticks and string round his front lawn to delineate his property & painted white the bits of the feet holding up the barriers that encroach his driveway. Oh, and don't get me started about the time he asked people attending a wake to move their cars

Sounds very like him - do you live in West Sussex by any chance?!
no dont live west sussex but maybe my neighbour has a twin that does!

There are two ways to deal with a serial complainer:

    1. Ignore, ignore, ignore and then ignore again.

    2. Complain about absolutely everything they/he/she do(es).

    Message sinks in eventually.

    Cheers

thanks - just checked as you suggested, and the lady at the planning office said 8:00 was very reasonable. Just need to work out what he can complain about & have the answers ready - has anyone ever had weird complaints from neighbours?

think you live the other side to my next door neighbour,he is a law unto himself when it comes to him doing his own work,we have had 20 year of his constant moaning, he got the building work stopped on my kitchen extension because he said it was one brick higher than plans! building inspector came out same day and all was fine, and parking on the front of his house(not blocking drive) if anyone dares! will get a visit from the police.he is a nightmare.

Tell him to !!!!!! off. Also RE: drives... if there is no white line, you can park in front of them if you want to. As for parking on curbs outside of homes etc... this is perfectly acceptable and you can park there for as long as you like.

Contrary to popular belief, White lines in front of drives are legally enforceable.

Most of us have a "Weird" neighbour. Of one sort or another.

Hopefully nobody is reading this and wondering who there's is....

i have been known to tell my neighbour where to go, now i find its best to just ignore him.
my neighbour has phoned police in past about others in the road parking on kerbs, police said as long as there is a pram width they dont have a problem.other times police knock on doors to tell people to move off the kerbs.when there has been one wheel on.
local council/highways might take a different view though.

Best thing to do is ask them to wait a moment, explain you have a queue of things to deal and the neighbour is in that queue, leave them stood outside the door in the cold for 25 minutes, then open and up and say, your next, please dont go ill be ready in about 10 minutes.
