Sorry for your loss, dreading the day when it comes for my old cat too, 14 atm. Think of the good times, and know that you gave her a good home and life.
Give yourself time to write a letter of complaint. So that your emotions aren't high at the time of writing.
I often wonder at my old cat getting a wee bit lame, but then when i see her chasing mice or running downstairs at breakfast time, I know there's not much wrong with her.
It's so hard losing a pet! You become so attached to them! We have our husky Skye, she's kept us going! I hope you have many happy years still to come.0 -
That's awful. Why should you have to do that when it was their mistake. I'm really sorry for your loss - we had to change vets once because the vet in question was horrible to one of my cats. Dragged her around the table. All the other vets I have been to though have been lovely, caring people. I hope you do write to the manager - it sounds like the vet in question needs reminding that people become very attached to their animals.0

Feeling much better when I got up this morni g! That was until I looked at the receipt from the vets, they've charged us £12 + vat for cremation! We bought her home!! I rang them and they apologised and said you'll have to come back up to get a refund to your card! I wouldn't mind but we live a good 10 mile round trip from them! I'm really annoyed....:footie:

I'm very sorry for your loss. Sounds like your experience was really traumatic. If I was in your position, I think I would write the letter, so the vet knows that the way you were treated was upsetting, hopefully the vet might take it on board and be better with other people. But if I got another cat, I would not go back and find a better vet, one that is prepared to listen to you and treat you respectfully. I'm sure your cat had a good life, 17 is a very good age.So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
Hope sharing saves some pain.0 -
Sorry to hear about your cat. Seventeen is a good age and I'm sure you gave her a very happy life.
The vet needs reminding. Send the letter.0 -
I agree. When you are doing some jobs, it is easy to forget that for the person concerned this is a huge deal and very traumatic. Sorry to hear the sad news.
I agree wholeheartedly,I stopped using the PDSA up in Belfast over the way they treated Orbit when he was ill.
To the owner (or in the case of cats, the cat slave) they're not a pet, they're family & it hurts just as much when one of them is ill or dies.
DD1966,I am so sorry for your loss,my heartfelt deepest condolences to you.0 -
Thanks everyone. I haven't sent the letter yet but rest assured it will go. I certainly won't be going back so I'll be on the look out for another vet to take our dog to.
It's nearly a week since she went and it's still hard to imagine she won't be pushing her way through the cat flap again. Skye our husky is missing her too, she was lying on the grass yesterday next to where Molly is buried.0 -
I understand exactly how you feel I was in the same position some years ago with my 16yr. old cat. The vet was so offhand it that was dreadful, my cat called out in pain that broke my heart The next day we saw him in a supermarket car park looking at his new Mercedes, I said good morning Mr. **** he ignored me.
I went to a another vet after that, she was so kind & gentle when my cats daughter was in the same position a year later, even to the point of leaving her with me for a while to say goodbye.
Please write your letter when you are feeling a little better it may help you to put you feelings down on paper.
I asked around to find a another vet people will soon tell you what they think.0 -

They are able to carry out a 'cardholder not present' transaction over the phone, and I would insist that they did this rather than have to go back there. I am sorry for your loss too, and if its any consolation at least your cat was with you when she died, and wouldn't have been aware of that disgraceful vets attitude xx0
