Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

Thanks for a new thread for a new week LC :T

This week I would like to pledge £15. I don't have anything planned apart from a cheap lunch on Wednesday but £15 should keep me on the straight and narrow:)

    Sunday - NSD :)

    = £15/£0

    So far, so good :)

    Hi all:santa2:

First post updated freebyfifty, very quiet today isn't it!!!

I have acheived my NSD today, yay! Basically, haven't been out! Hahaha :rotfl:

Also, Gremlins is on at 8pm! :j One of my favourite Christmas films! This year I've so far watched Christmas with the Kranks, Elf (have them on DVD) and earlier a little bit of Jack Frost as it was on tv while I was wrapping the last of the presents...that one's quite sad though, I think, so I had to switch over at the end!!! :(:D

  • Hey
I'm off work this week and I nearly always spend a fortune when I'm off work. But hoping that this challenge will keep me on the straight and narrow. I shouldn't need to spend money - I have everything sorted out for Christmas now and just a couple of last minute things (posting cards and parcels).
I almost did it last week, almost....
I think I'll pledge £50 for this week. Not sure if I can manage that or not - honestly. It's my second week so still very new. I've already spent £3.20 today on drinks at a kids party - I keep falling for that one don't I?

Apologies LC for not keeping on top of the thread last week. I haven't really been at home other than to sleep since Tuesday. I have just been home for the weekend to do the pre-Xmas visit. Thanks for the new thread

I was definitely red last week as I managed to spend quite a lot of cash at Xmas night out on Thursday. I still have a few xmas things to sort out this week (mainly food and stuff) but no nights out planned. Payday is early (Wed) so I am pledging £60 for this week.

    Enjoy your week everyone.

  • I think this is something I need to do- my impulse buying is something I need to curb.

I'm pledging £50. I need to do some shopping on Wednesday for last minute xmas gifts but I won't be going crazy in the shopping centre *repeats mantra*

    Hi all:santa2:

Really is quiet on here isn't it!!!

Well, i posted my package to Scotland, luckily it was light as was quite big, but £3.05 for first class isn't too bad. Anyway, that was from my surplus pot, not my spending money. Also got some clementines (really fancied them!) and some milk from my food budget. So nothing so far today from challenge money and plan to keep it that way!

    Hi

I think everyone is out shopping!

I have no idea what I will be spending this week, so haven't given a budget. I'm not going out today though as it is pouring with rain.

My weekend spending was high, still not bought all presents and have a lot of food even though I am not having Christmas dinner here (although 10 on boxing day)
