Actually the PlayTrade dumping is a very wise move by the Ratuken group, Mum ordered a DVD the other week from play.com (although didn't know it was a PlayTrade dealer) only for it to arrive, i took one look at it, proclaimed it a fake (which it was - although i only know this due to having worked in DVD retailing for 4+ years) and well, there's a lot of people ordering goods which are counterfeit through them who simply will not know how to spot the fakes. It'll save them a lot of hassle in the future no doubt.

To the OP it's actually pretty rubbish you'll have to wait for it, but i had a similar problem last year when i'd pre-ordered a game, they told me it'd been dispatched using the much maligned Hermes courier and after 10 days of no item it was obvious to all sane people it wasn't arriving, they in turn told me i had to wait 28 days to report it missing before a refund would be issued - brilliant customer service! (oh yeah, that's right, sarcasm isn't easy to spot in text is it :D ) I've ordered a few things since, but am always wary of them, i'm hoping that the buyout will help (Japanese company who have bought them - hopefully Japanese customs will come through in their service) but ultimately i wouldn't be surprised if they stay dodgy.

  • I ordered an ipod from play.com 5 days ago. I wanted it sent to a different address from my credit card address. They didn't appear able to do this. I called them. They told me how to do it online, which I did, then my credit card company called me to ask about the transaction as it was suspicious! Play.com then refused my order, so I called them again, they said dont worry my payment has gone through. I said yes, ok but your site is showing it as payment rejected. They assured me it was a lag on the site being updated and my goods would be dispatched. Today I checked again and it was still showing as rejected, so I called again (25 mins wait on the phone), and it had been rejected! They had told me inaccurate info about the payment being accepted and had just sat on it for 5 days! If I hadn't of chased it I'd have never known. Now I have 5 days for it to arrive before Christmas! And I could hardly understand the people at their call center which I assume was in the phillipenes. Ggggrrrrr. Won't use them again!

I stopped using Play because they were abysmal if you had to return anything - unlike Amazon who take your word and send another one, Play will keep the item and have it tested or repaired, and take weeks about it. The last straw was when they were hacked. You cannot delete your account online, you have to ring them up.

Amazon every time for me, even a bargain doesn't tempt me back to Play.com. as they are more hassle than it's worth especially over electrical items.
  • Hi all, I'm having TERRIBLE trouble and MEGA BIG problems with PLAY.COM !!! Consequently I am now NEVER-EVER going to use them ever again in my whole life, shame really as they were the only supplier I used and DID have their credit card too.

To cut an EXTREMELY long story very short, they totally messed up my order, cancelled it, re-ordered it, tried to deliver it TO THE WRONG ADDRESS, I had to take a day off work to be in for the courier for THEIR ERROR, now they won't accept my claim for having to take a day off work.

With alot of VERY LENGTHY phone calls to their useless call centre, more useless people based in the UK am I getting nowhere fast.

QUESTION - DOES ANYONE KNOW THE MANAGING DIRECTORS/CHAIRMAN'S NAME, ADDRESS PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLAY.COM are RUBBISH - a company registered in JERSEY, a warehouse based in the UK, a completely USELESS call centre in the PHILIPPINES, more useless staff in CAMBRIDGE - no wonder why they can't get anything right.

Oh, I have names, direct email addresses and direct phone numbers for anyone wanting to make a complaint !!! I'll post them soon. I just need my info to go straight to the top person to try and get my complaint sorted out.

Thanks to anyone who can help me !!
  • :( Just to add to my previous post: I called play.com customer service this morning (a very quick 5 minute wait this time) to chase up my refund which, last Thursday, had been promised within 48 hours. The operator told me that now it is promised by the end of this week due to the large demand for refunds! It would be funny if I wasn't so desperate to get the money back so that I can enter the Hell that is running around the high street of all major cities in order to track down another Nintendo! Merry Christmas!

My son ordered yesterday off play.com. For some reason Play have dulpicated his order and taken the money twice - putting him overdrawn at the bank. They didn't add an extra item to his order - they made a completely duplicate one with a seperate order number! My son discovered the error straight away and rang them to cancel the one order. He was told that he couldn't cancel it and that he would have to wait untill he recieves the goods, and then return one for a refund. He tried asking to speak to a supervisor, I tried talking to them on his behalf and asked to speak to a supervisor. Guess what - none were available. Finally after being on hold for over 75minutes they cut him off.

Early this morning (1.00am) they sent 2 emails confirming that each of the orders had been despatched.

I've had to lend my son money to pay into his bank to try and prevent him geting too many bank charges, as unfortunately he was made redundant 3 months ago. He's struggled to get christmas presents for his loved ones, and problems like this just add to his worries.

Its about the worst customer service I've come across. And looking on their facebook page we're by no means the only ones to experience this!

    Shame on you Play.com

(By the way ChrissyT would love some contact details if you have them)

  • Ordered on Dec 10 - not despached (allegedly) until Dec 16(even though it was in stock) - still hasn't arrived. No reply to emails. I have been a play.com customer almost since its inception - but its not the company it once was.

    Back to amazon for me.

Years ago I ordered a dvd from Play which didn't arrive. I rang them and they sent another one straight away. However, since they have changed hands the customer service is absolutely woeful. For example if something doesn't work and you have to return it, try getting the postage refunded - which they should do if the item arrived faulty. It is near impossible. Plus, they really don't give a toss and seem to feel that if they make it hard enough to return stuff customers will just give up.
  • crappy service from them for me too, item in stock ordered on 6th dec, not despatched until 16th. it arrived today, the item comes in a box which has been opened and NOT resealed, this was then just sent in a jiffy bag so every single corner is bashed in !!!

Dont have time to get a replacement in time for xmas so im going to have to order from amazon (gonna cost a £1 more but thats not the end of the world) and return this one and hope play can pull their finger out and at least get a refund right !
