PLAY.COM - Ho-Ho-Hopeless!

Options
Play.Com expect me to believe that 5 different items, all despatched individually on 3 different days have ALL been lost in the post! ... and they won't re-despatch in time for Christmas!

30th November - ordered 5 items,
1st Dec (2), 2nd Dec (2), 8th Dec (1) - Items despatched
13th December - rang overseas call-centre, CSA totally unhelpful - repeatedly assured me items wd arrive "soon".
16th Dec - email to Play.Com, no reply yet
18th Dec -CSA finally accepted items were missing ... then dropped the bombshell - I am supposed to wait until they investigate before my order is replaced

Not good enough Play.com, you've lost my custom.

with you claiming 5 separate items have gone missing how does Play not know if you are pulling a fast one. If it was just 1 item then they may have just resent, but 5 they will investigate

Sounds like an issue with your post and not a Play.com issue. I've ordered loads of stuff from them this year, received it all ok. In fact a jacket i ordered for my son arrived within 3 days !

3 different packages going missing, i'd certainly be in touch with RM (or the courier if applicable) asking whats happening.

If they had started investgating when I first queried non-receipt then I might have got the gifts re-sent in time.

They have always been fine in the past, I've been a Play customer for years and I've not had any cause to complain before, but the response from the CSA was very poor - seems like he's been hearing it a lot.

I have done and I've also checked with the neighbours just in case - nothing.

From what I understand, RM won't comply with an investigation until 16 days has passed, in which case, they consider it lost, so even if play investigated, they'd hit a brick wall with RM.
  • I registered for this forum today because I was keen to see if anyone else has had the same problems as I have with an order from Play.com. At the end of November I ordered and paid for, a Nintendo DSi for Christmas present. Two weeks later, with item marked as dispatched on the 28th November I emailed and phoned. Play told me that as the item was purchased from PlayTrade (but through Play main site) and as they were no longer dealing with PlayTrade that I would be eligible for a refund. The PlayTrade site is crammed full of furious complaints. As yet, not refund has appeared and I was wondering where I would stand if, as it would appear, that PlayTrade have sunk without trace. Unfortunately, and rather foolishly, I bought the item on my Visa debit rather than credit card so I have no credit company to chase the money for me. Doh!
  • Ordered 2 cds from play.com.. packaged in same cardbourd box touching each other, one case cracked and loads of scratches on cases.. suppose to be NEW, great presents to give away right? Also took 9 days to deliver.

I've have always found play.com delivery to be staggeringly poor so your experience tally's with mine. I avoid using them whenever possible but had to order something today as Amazon were OOS. Hope it arrives in time but I won't be banking on it. I am amazed they are still in business as their fulfillment is !!!! poor compared to Amazon.

Thanks for the heads-up about Playtrade seemingly ditched and left to die off by the Ratuken Group, Play.com's new owners since September. So now if I ever use the place again I'll have to stick to new stuff or downloads, but truth be told I'd probably go elsewhere.

Before the takeover, Play always seemed to prefer that you order the same stuff all over again so they could refund you, rather than actually looking into where the stuff actually went. In total I think the only CD to go missing that I ordered from them, the replacement process took just over two months from the first order, to the loss, to the replacement getting posted out.

As BlueC says, now they seem to bundle multiples together rather than shipping separate CDs/DVDs, which can lead to the damage he encountered. I've been both lucky and also careful to only order what can go through my letterbox, but they should be careful about messing up their service only a year after the snow did it for them.

I ordered something early November last year. It was showing as in stock. By about the 20th December it still wasn't dispatched so I gave up and bought elsewhere.
