    To all interested posters,
I'm pleased to say, I received an email and instructions on how to cancel prime as there were no further purchases from Amazon. I did this and I have received another email telling me my cancellation has been acknowledged and will be refunded to my account in a few days. This topic has become a discusion of T&Cs, and no I don't read all the terms and conditions of every website and especially not of reputable companies like Amazon as this was my first online purchase.

Erm, YES. They're written on the back of your receipt!

This thread hasn't become a discussion about T&Cs.
Most posters have been telling you that you have physically signed up to Amazon Prime - even though you insist you haven't..

Amazon did not sign you up to Prime without your knowledge.

You probably won't bother reading this as you believe you're in the right (you're not) but when you place an order with Amazon this is the screen you get:

Do you not understand what "free trial" means?

Just how much clearer do you need it to be? Especially THIS bit:
There's no obligation to continue beyond the trial period. You can cancel your membership through Your Account at any time during your Free Trial and you will not be charged the £49.00 annual fee

It's not a scam, con or rip-off to get your money at all, it's something that people actually have to opt in for.

Basically, some people just can't be bothered to read what's in front of them - and I'm not talking about the small print of T&Cs here.
It's fully explained in big, bold colour and you have to physically choose one or the other before being able to continue.

I'm all for bashing big businesses when they operate sharp practice policies but in this case, Amazon aren't guilty.

They are not using cunning marketing processes.

If you are getting free supersaver delivery (which the 5 day time scale would appear to suggest) then, no, you have not signed up to a trial with Amazon Prime.
I'm not getting free delivery, I'm paying for it. Still haven't had the item either.

I'm a bit worried now. I just made my first ever purchase from Amazon and stupidly ticked I understood the T&Cs...without reading them.

I paid for delivery though and have to wait 5 working days for it, so can I assume I haven't signed up for this Prime thing? I wasn't given the option for free next day delivery at all.

Amazon Prime is offered to new members, I'm surprised you didn't see this offer.

I've never, ever paid for delivery from Amazon - at least not since they changed their policy from orders over £15 were free but under that amount delivery was charged - and that was years ago.

I've found that even if you choose free delivery stuff always comes a lot sooner than their estimate.

Is your order fulfilled by Amazon or by one of their market-place sellers?

    Amazon website says this:
Does everything on the site qualify for FREE Super Saver Delivery?

For the UK, all items are eligible except gift certificates and items purchased from third-party sellers on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace (unless marked as Fulfilled by Amazon).

I'd guess you've ordered from a 3rd party (market place) seller.
