No you just cancel as vrgin cable doesn't use a phoneline.

    Remember to go through quidco.com

It's best to overlap when moving to virgin to minimise downtime and if an issue occurs you still have Internet
  • My advice: do your homework first. Virgin Media look tempting with their high download speeds, but all too often the quality of the signal is poor. There are customers all over the UK (disclaimer: I am one) who are suffering from "high utilisation" faults within the Virgin Media network, which manifest themselves as massive amounts of jitter and packet loss. It almost seems like they're oversubscribed system-wide, and it takes them months to address any complaints. But don't take my word for it: search the web, or even just take a look at their own official tech support forums, where you'll see hundreds of new posts every day complaining about this sort of issue.

If all you want to do is download files, you'll probably be OK. But if you want to do anything latency-sensitive, like watch streaming movies, or play online games, or make Skype calls, or even telecommute, well... I wish you better luck than myself or many of their other customers are having.

And I bet for every customer with a bad experience there are a thousand who are perfectly happy (I am one, as are around 10 people I know personally, in different areas).

No point going on to forums to see the level of complaints - it is meaningless without knowing what percentage of customers post there. I would hazard a guess at 0.001% ;)
  • i must say, i've just swapped from sky to virgin, and they dealt with everything, and the broadband is fast as hell and works great, i dont need to reset my router every other day as i did with sky.

Its currently peak time for broadband, and ill just go and test my speed to give an accurate figure. At off peak times it runs at 30meg, exactly what i pay for. i do expect it to be a little slower at this time of day.
  • Virgin cable bb have been good for me. I never suffer any drop in service. I would avoid their tv and hone phone service like the plague, though.
    ''apply within'' :)

fosheezy, don't speak for us all. Just because you have a poor connection, it doesn't mean everyone has and that the company should be avoided.

He's perfectly correct to point out that many do though and that VM don't rush to fix these issues. My own local area is oversubscribed and I'll be moving on once I can get Infinity. Meanwhile I've downgraded from 50Mbps to 10Mbps as that's all I can get a lot of the time (well all the time now obviously).
