Same here, I got married last year and targeted all the wedding comps but now I no longer need a dress or honeymoon I obviously wouldn't be doing them. I targeted the baby comps when I was expecting aswell. I only go in for things I really need or would like mainly tickets and days out for the children.0

Its more than possible to win decent prizes if you do at least 100 comps a day, sounds a lot but it doesn't take long, facebook is included in this, I have won a few things from there, Twitter was very good but constant retweeting is required and after my account got hacked twice I closed it down, if you value your privacy then comping may no longer be right for you, my suggestion would be to open up a specific email account and the spam that comes with regular comping will be contained, I only use this forum and the vast majority of my wins come from here and I comp for between 1 and 2 hours each day, sometimes at odd hours when I can fit it in, its certainly worth my while, Velvets Gloves outstanding comping guide which is a sticky on this board should bring you up to date with everything, best of luck:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I started comping at the end of last summer and won a few nice perks (e.g. £50 Amazon gift certificate, free restaurant meal for 2) but haven't won anything for months despite spending a few hours entering comps every day. The odd win here and there would help; I know this is supposed to be a fun and enjoyable hobby but I have entered uncountable numbers of comps for things I really need or would like, and nothing comes of it. Maybe luck really is something that some people have more of than others. These days I'm starting to resent the time it's taking to do this and am wondering if it's ever going to feel worthwhile.0

I have comped on and off for 20 years and had reasobale wins when I started many moons ago with postcard entries. I had an accident 4 months ago and since then have been immobile much of the time. I have spent 4-5 hours a day (probably 600+ hours in 4 months) comping. I have won approximately £200 of goods in that time, ok a nice perk but if I were not stuck here with nothing else to do I think the odds are so low it is a waste of time. There seems to be countless articles recently in papers and magazines with people showing off fabulous prizes - tv's, cars etc all of which they win doing comps. They have made it look deceptively easy and have lured lots of people into trying it - lowering the odds of winning for everyone. I agree with others here that there are more and more Facebook comps. I prefer not to enter them as I value my privacy and my few FB friends and really do not want to bombard them with endless advertising drivel which you seem to have to share.0 -
Hi iscamaid, I get where you're coming from with Facebook. I've been entering those comps for some time, but recently there seem to be a lot that require you to share their drivel, as you rightly put it. I see it's starting to clutter up my wall, and it's probably annoying my friends, so I'll have to tone it down for a while.
Sorry to hear the comping has been disappointing for you, and I'm sorry to hear about the accident. My own situation is that I am long-term unemployed, so while my husband works I am stuck at home much of the time. I had been hoping that comping would bring some money in and enable us to have a nice break or holiday. It does seem to be a lot of work to put in for almost nothing so far. I am not a materialistic person and slogging through all the tat and advertising in order to enter comps for things I want can feel pretty soul destroying. This is a nice community here though, and that helps.
Good luck, hope you get a big win soon0 -
Hi all
I've been doing comps for a few months now, only won a couple of DVDs, I only really enter one's that I want to win but never really expect to get anywhere, I always leave the one's that are really no interest to me, it's a waste of my time going for something i dont want, also i think i am taking away someone else's chance who would want it.
There are a lot I don't enter because of having to use facebook, and really did'nt want to keep sharing with friends and family who have no nterest in comping.:rotfl:
Read this thread and took some advice from one post in here where they said they have a second facebook page but now I have a new facebook page
with no friendslol , so if anyone has done the same have a facebook page just for comps, if you want you can add me so when we do these comps we dont mind sharing with the friends on our facebook page, not sure if we are allowed to put our names in here, I will if someone says it's ok to do so, if not just pm me, am off to bed now but will check tomorrow.

Just be aware that Facebook are clamping down on this and you can end up having both accounts closed, it's happened to people here already.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I've set up a list on my facebook for comping friends. So now when I have to share posts, I use the option to only share with fellow compers! That way I don't annoy all my other non-comping friends.0
