Isn't harmful but might irritate the lining of his stomach I suppose. The porridge idea is a good one. Likely to make for some interesting and colourful bathroom visits .

Reminds me of my Mum the day she gave me a spoonful of what she thought was Famel cough mixture -I spat half of it out and said it tasted like TCP-she told me not to be so silly -then turned the bottle around and went white. Yep she'd given me TCP :p

Doctor told her to give porridge and a day off school when she rang him convinced she'd poisoned me :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks all, such a donut of a child!

I don't understand why he chose red for strawberry?

What was the point of the experiment, was it to see if the brain is tricked into thinking x flavour yoghurt tasted like strawberry because it was red? If so, well I guess strawberry's as good a flavour as any!

Anyway DS has ASD and apart from him being hyper for the rest of today I just wanted to check with you guys if there will be any other effects from it? It says on the bottle no more than one teaspoon for 250g grams of icing?

Agree with the others - should be no effect asides from the toilet contents turning red.

If this is the worst non-food thing he's consumed so far then you're doing well! lol

I would probably think yourself lucky that he's not still in nappies :) That would be interesting :)
DS drank an entire bottle of blue food colouring when he was about 18 months old. He was still in nappies. His poo was like mushy peas for a day or so :o

Oats, particularly cooked oats, are great for soaking up toxins.

Lots of water to drink helps to flush it out faster, I read that somewhere. My kids both react to certain food colourings and so does my husband. They don't affect me at all. Fingers crossed that your boy is one of those who don't react!

Mine have a bad 'come down' too - sleepless night, lots of crying and irrational behaviour (like me when I have bad PMS!), possibly nightmares or even bed wetting.

Out of interest which colouring was it? I was looking at ingredients on boxes of candy canes yesterday, and they all warned that E129 could affect behaviour and concentration in children, yet they added E102 (or was it 104?) and E133 without putting any warnings on. I thought all 3 were on the hyperactive list.

  • A friends little one (aged 3) found the green food colouring in a low down cupboard (since rectified) and poured it over his head on the advice of his 5 year old brother, the day before pre school photos... The Shrek look alike was not a popular look!!

    Supercook E122 and E110.

So much for me thinking he would be hyper! He's even had a nap this afternoon:rotfl:
