Son drank half a bottle of red food colouring?!

Hi all,

This morning my DS decided to copy gastronaughts to see if the colour of food changes the way you think about it?!? I dint know why he chose red for strawberry?!? Anyway DS has ASD and apart from him being hyper for the rest of today I just wanted to check with you guys if there will be any other effects from it? It says on the bottle no more than one teaspoon for 250g grams of icing?

Dilute it with a hearty portion of porridge?

Oh, and warn him his poo may be red tomorrow..

i would think his wee and poo would be red for a day or so. and he might be a tad hyper too as you already pointed out.

dont think it would do him any harm really except a sore head from too much sugar?

Although i never drank the whole bottle, mum gave me a little bottle to put in the bin, when i went back to her she asked did i try and drink it, no i said, she asked if i was sure i had not drank from it, again i said no....

guess who had red lips..this what back in the 70's

I'm a keen cake maker and always struggle to colour icing a true red without ruining the taste. That's because the main ingredient in most nowadays is paprika and if you use too much you end up with chilli flavour icing! So I think this is why the bottle says to limit usage, not because it's dangerous.

I used to drink food colouring as a child...whole bottles. Me and my sister would race each other to see who could drink the most....I won, with 9 in about 10 minutes while Dad was talking to the postman.

I was fine, although I did have odd coloured wee for a few days....
