I spent the best part of £50 on Dior perfume for my mum for Christmas, but I can see the Lidl offering filling a gap in the market, and they've done a cracking job promoting it.

I do find it funny that QuackQuack used the term 'toilet water' to describe it, with very much a derogatory implication. That's either very subtle irony, or an unintentional display of hilarious ignorance. The jury's out...

My other half tried it the other week and loves it, which pleases me as I usually shell out for her other favourite Chanel. :)

  • :rotfl:Lidl, perfume, honestly whatever next. Got to admire them though they could sell sand to the Arabs provided it was cheap and in a bright box. Whilst I will certainly not be crossing their threshold to make a purchase good luck to those who do. It really is what you are comfortable with and if that's cheap perfume for yourself or a cheap gift for a loved one then go for it.

Sorry, but had a sniff of this perfume the other day, and tbh, it's rather NICE! I bought one in Primark last year, had a spray and a walk, then decided to buy a couple of bottles for others. Cheap perfume that smells nice can make excellent stocking fillers, especially for teenagers who like to wear it by the bucketful:j

There was and is a perfume called Tramp

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tramp-Perfume-Women-Mayfair-UNBOXED/dp/B002VQ3XUA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324283455&sr=8-1

I personally don't think the Lidl one smells anything like it. But we all enjoy different scents. When buying for a gift, I usually wear the perfume first and wait for the comments on it.

Last year I had several compliments on my perfume (cheapy from primark, think it was £3.99) So guess what they all got for stocking fillers :T

Perfumes are generally overpriced, so £3.99 will mean a slimmer profit margin. However as profits will still need to be made, it is likely to be a blend of less expensive ingredients (no Oudh or Civet!), or synthetic analogues. And it is likely to have been blended with fewer ingredients, and with fewer cycles of refinement. And is likely to have more alcohol and less oil than a premium scent.

That isn't to say it will be good or bad, just that the scent is likely to be more closely related to 'celebrity' perfumes than to perfume house classics. Perfumes like Coco Chanel (which is one of the nicer ones in my opinion) should last on the skin for upto 24h as those final base notes evaporate, cheaper scents are typically designed to be applied before a night out, then will give their all within a few hours.
  • I managed to get some of this when it was first publicised, it is initially very similar to Coco Madamoiselle, however it soon changes to a different smell. Still great for £3.99, can't sniff at that eh?
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

I don't think they compare to Asda in pricing or value

Well Lidl, Aldi etc. are what is called discount stores, so you cant compare them with mainline supermarkets like Asda.

its like comparing a Ferrari with a Smart Car

i cant see perfume for £3 being any good just like the ones you get at poundland for £1

Why not? The manufacturing cost of the contents of a bottle of perfume is only about 10p.

As in a Smart Car (although still ridiculously over priced) will get you to where you want to go at the fraction of the price of a Ferrari?
