Debt Diaries!

Firstly - apologies, I haven't read all of the thread.... (bad girl) however, I'm off to bed and I wanted to post. I don't read many of the diaries. I did at the start, but not so much now. I think a sub-board would be great. People can always subscribe to a particular one (a few... loads..) if they like but then Newbies could see the current threads on the DFW board, plus they should be able to get reasonably quick answers as their posts won't dissappear off the front page...

I love the debt diaries, have picked up LOADS of info from them as well as being reassured that I am not alone (which I thought I was until I found this board) and also enjoying the chat. It is also nice to see the mood change as the diaries progress.
I would vote for a sub board as I would still go there & read them all.Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

As on of the 'guilty' diarists, I'm really undecided about this. I'm quite new, and I find the diaries quite comforting (in knowing that I'm not the only one etc). They were the first sort of threads that I looked at, and I do try to read a couple every night for ideas etc.
I like them being on the main board, but I can see that it would be better to have another board instead. I do feel that I'd probably write more in a blog-type setting (I would really like to have an external debt blog as I've had a blog previously and really enjoyed that). Having a seperate diary board would be half way to that, I guess.Lightblub Moment - Christmas 2006. Totally transformed my thinking about money.Debts at Highest - £63,015.29. I still think the debt diaries should stay, many newbies start ones after logging onto the DFW board but I feel I am in the minority here:(Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0

Dude!!! me and u are the founding members of the diarys  we started the whole phenomenom (sp) :beer:southernscouser wrote:We've had this discussion before but, are there too many of them?
I personally think there are (and yes I know I'm as guilty as anyone)
I know Martin likes them and wants to keep them where they are, but what do others think?
I'm particularly interested in hearing what the newcomers to the board think? Are the 'essential' threads asking for advice disappearing too quickly of the front pages for them to get a decent response?

It seems to be newer members who like the debt diaries, so they definitely have their place.
Is it more advanced DFW journiers (sp? - is it a word?) that use thme less? I wonder why?
This cam up last summer and again in Sep/Oct and I think Martin turned down the sub board idea. However, what applies in Autumn, does not neccessarily apply in Spring, so we should ask again.
This is something I feel VERY strongly about.
Everyone should cast their mind back to the days when they were not in control, when there was no hope, when you had no knowledge and were pretty desperate. We cannot let anyone slip thorugh the net. The consequences are too dire.0 -
Make the diaries a sub-board, but make a point of telling newbies to have a read through a few (if they have time), just like you/we tell everyone to have a look at the SOA sticky.
At first I didn't really get the point of having a signature let alone doing a diary; but now all has become clear...Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 208 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts DEBT FREE DECEMBER 2008!!!0 -
Hi all,
As one of the diarists, I would be happier if my diary was moved to a sub board.
Diaries are quite easily identifyable as they generally have "diary" in their title. If they don't then we should leave them in the main DFW area.
While we are there, we could have a challenges sub board too.

I agree that the Diaries take a lot of space up on the main forum esp with the mutliple pages the use although in the long term I think newbies to the site start reading them and thats what gets them interested.
I dont know if its just me but since the bankruptcy threads got there own subforum I hardly ever look at them now as there are still lots of posts to read in the main forum.
The problem comes when someone misses a thread because they do not view the subforums and have a good answer to the problem.
I used to run quite large music fan forums a couple of years back and it was hard enough to control 2500 members. I dont know how on earth the site admin manage with the million odd visitors we get monthly.
I think this comes under the term Web Artichecture. anyone work in that field have any input would be interesting.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

I like reading the diaries and find them quite inspirational, but would prefer a sub board, basically so there all in one place and I'm a lazy sod!
