I have two Ikea sofas, both fairly cheap, both about 10 years old. They have gone through house moves, been dragged on the carpet on two and four legs, and generally pushed and pulled around in that time. Neither of them has been damaged by this.

thats because then they made things to last now its all cheap imports.

i have a stanley screwbriver that i got 30 yrs ago, it has been used as a chisel with a hammer as the force and this is as good as new, and the amount of others i have had over the years that dont last 5 minutes, because now its all cheap chinese imports.

I don't know whether this could be considered inherent or not -- but personally I wouldn't expect a leg to be so flimsy as to fall apart within 10 minutes even if it was dragged (in a non-agressive way that is). Admittedly our sofa gets dragged to be moved once a week and we've never experienced problems -- maybe we're just lucky, maybe not.

Pretty sure a sofa should be lifted not dragged across the floor putting pressure on the legs and causing them to break

Hope you get it sorted and think carefully what you tell them

And i dont think you are liable for compo BTW
