    Won't do anything for the people who were told they had a job definitely subject to security clearance -but once clearance was through never got a start date just a resounding silence from Angard despite lots of phonecalls and emails chasing them.Or for those who turned up for their first shift with written confirmation from Angard to be told they weren't "on the list" and got turned away.......or those who worked one shift and then terminated for having no workboots (which they were never informed they needed).
    I'm "lucky" that the RM job was a second job to pay for Christmas (and yes I turned down other temp Christmas jobs as I was told it was a definite offer subject to security clearance which I knew wouldn't be a problem). It has left a hole in the budget and made for a frugal Christmas and I'm thankful my son is old enough to understand why. My heart goes out to the people I met at the interview with small kids who were relying on it to fund Christmas for their families.

    Really daft question but what on earth is a SO ?
    There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
    So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

    Ahh ok ta, why not just partner, hubby, boyfriend, girlfriend etc.. I really don't understand why some posters do a full post with proper words like lol ( not having a pop at the op as they are by no means alone) and then uses short hand for one term..ie DD DS ? Why not just use the word seeing as all the other words are not text words.

    I am getting old.................

    No, I agree. I hate it when posters use DD, DS etc etc. Never heard of SO before. I wondered what it was too (actually, I'm still not sure what it means!! Really, who or what is a significant other?)

    Bake Off Boss!
    My husband was due to start through Angard also.

    He was told his clearance was through, got an email telling him to start at 6.30am, but when he arrived at site he was told there was no pass for him and his name wasn't on the list.

    He wasn't the only one turned away that day and there were a lot of angry people. Security told them to phone Angard.....only a recorded message and never able to actually speak to anyone. He sent an email also and is still waiting for a reply and that was 2 weeks ago.

    It's a real shame for the people who had pinned there hopes on getting some money for Xmas. I hope the people who got taken on get their money ok.

    I think most of them have it sorted, or a cash advance in lieu of wages. Guess it won't be sorted completely until they receive wage slips that tally with the hours they have worked. I foresee that being the next problem. Even posties who work there all the time have problems getting overtime paid :(

    We have just had the total opposite. Son applied for a temp job at royal mail, went for interview day was told there was no weekend work as he is at college and can only do weekends. Then they emailed him saying he had a position every week day from six am until two even though he said he could only work weekends. He emailed back saying he could not do this.
    Next day Angarad called up not knowing of the previous offer asking if he could work weekends every saturday and sunday from 10 until 10. He decided this was a bit too full on he is only 16 so declined.
    Now he has just been to the bank and he has two payments from Angard totally just over £200.
