The post says to use soda crystals after the veet, not caustic soda. soda crystals arent as strong as caustic soda and people are more likely to have veet and soda crystals than to have caustic soda

  • Hair remover - what a fantastic idea. Must try that.

Just in general or for unblocking plug holes?:p
  • on the money saving side of using hair remover, you can get well known hair remover creme/gel etc in PoundLand.

  • Wouldn't it work out cheaper to use one of those little plastic plug covers that catch the hair, once you've cleared out the back-log?
  • Just in general or for unblocking plug holes?:p

    I think both.

  • I always use a coat hanger - you know - the rubbish wire ones. Straighten them out, stick them down the plug hole, bit of a wiggle, pull, sorted!

The other thing you could do if youdon't want to use chemicals is to take the side panel off the bath and then remove and clean the trap.

I seem to have started something with my original post. I have tried the coat hanger trick and couldn't do anything, that's why I posted. Must say I thought the Veet idea was a joke when I first saw it (sorry Toxic Lemon) and I ignored it but it sounds a slightly less environmentally harmful and less scary thing to try.

I think this is so clever! I've also thought of another use...I wonder if you could dilute hair removing cream into water and then soak your hairbrushes and combs? If always find it hard to get the hair off though, especially if they have little bobbles on the end of the bristles, if you know what I mean!
