Must have been the 14/20KRH then. They weren't the spearhead though. QRIH were. Captain Nick Scott (RIP) got the MM for being the first commander to cross the line into Iraq. Of course QRIH was under the command of Lt Col Denaro and I'm afraid that every other colonel in the army fades into insignificance beside him.
Unusual to have a man from the Republic as a senior British army leader is it not? well I suppose there was The Iron Duke. Having done a bit of research into the 14/20th I note that blue on blue was not restricted to the US forces 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. He is only really 1st generation ROI. His father and grandfather, who both held commissions (his dad was a brigadier) were from Malta. There's a lot about Arthur that people don't know.
Yes I'm aware of the 14th/20th's big mistake in GW2. I felt sorry for the gunner but wondered how he made such a mistake, even through it was through TI. The shape of a western tank is so much different to the Soviet versions which were the real targets. The same thing happened in BATUS. These are the only Challengers ever completely knocked out by enemy fire and that includes the two damaged by buried RPG's in Iraq during Telic. ( 1 x QRIH & 1 x KRH). They actually kept the QRIH one secret for 2 years until that same happened to the KRH in order to preserve the myth that the Challenger was totally indestructible.

GW1 as well, you learn something new every day
Two soldiers from 10 Air Defence Battery, Royal Artillery, were badly injured when two FV103 Spartan from which they had dismounted were fired upon by Challenger 1 tanks from 14th/20th King's Hussars with thermal sights beyond the range of unaided visibility (about 1500 m). The rearmost vehicle was hit and burst into flames. The other vehicle was also damaged in the ensuing fire.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Very odd at those ranges. 1500m on a 10x sight is like 100m in real life. It's actually optimum range for APDS. Can't remember if the optics changed any for the faster APFSDS round which they used in GW1.0

It doesn't say 1500 metres, its says beyond that. An excuse to get in back in contact with that friend (not seen for years), I will ask him at some point, I don't think he would have been involved in that as he had a successful career but he will certainly know about it.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Ron Paul is doing quite credibly
Currently he's 14-1 odds, which is a big improvement on the 45-1 odds he was in the summer.
The problems are Mitt Romney at 10-3 and Newt Gringrich at 5-1, both far more likely to get the Republican nomination.
The longer the GFC continues, the more he will be heard, and more chance of at least some of his sound money views gaining an audience.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
Republicans are more likely to lose altogether still, its maybe the democrat contenders OB should worry about
I cant see RP get a nomination unless ironically REP are democraticGalloway debates Hitchens 5 years ago - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6804714963382152969

Here's your post Stevie

I just commented on the basis of what you've said and on my own knowledge of tank gunnery.0
