I get Reynauds syndrome - one touch of a cold steering wheel and the blood shoots out of my hands and back up my arm. I get some very odd looks when I'm trying to get the circulation back by waving my hands around. (Not both at the same time, obviously.) I keep thinking about getting some decent gloves that don't restrict the circulation even more, so I'll be checking out some of the suggestions as well.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

to keep my hands comfortable and avoid joint pains from extended holding of a cold steering wheel. Shame they dont make heated steering wheels!:rotfl:

They do! My Land Rover Discovery has one, and it is really coming into it's own in this weather!

Even with the heater set to 21deg in my car, my hands are still cold enough to make my wife jump when I get home from work, and that is about a 25 minute drive.

I think she might be after some gloves... for me.
  • I feel the cold in my joints more these days, I have thinner spring gloves then thicker winter gloves. One thing to look for is rubberised grip otherwise the wheel can slip through your hands. My winter gloves are goretex with a furry lining, ski style, from an outdoors shop. Not too tight either, don’t want to restrict blood supply = more coldness! Some Volvo’s have heated steering wheels, which would be nice. If your hands are already cold they won’t heat the wheel much.

Unless you also wear a flat cap and smoke a pipe, why do people wear gloves for driving?

My heater keeps me nice and warm

because i have to wait for the heater to warm up. the Jeep isn't too bad but the MR2 takes a few miles; the MR2 also has a stainless steel gear knob which burns in the summer and freezes in the winter.
Plus, I've always been a desk jockey so I don't do cold weather.

I've used a pair of these for several years. They have rubber grips and are pretty warm for driving.

Just don't use them for cycling as I did as the wool rubbed away through changing gear (rotating handlebar gear).
