Have you not all read Martins article on staying in for deliveries and compensation?? Prime accounts quote 'guaranteed next day delivery' which I did not get. I have just used his template letter in an email to them.

    doesnt say next day here?

That is the US version of Amazon.

    UK : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=10790441#one

I don't think you will have any recourse here, in their T+C's:
One-Day Delivery does not apply in the event of service interruptions or failures caused by events beyond Amazon.co.uk's control.

Its quite simple.... if your not happy with the service ..don't use them again. I for one..and I live in New Zealand now have used them countless times and have always been impressed with their service. I'm just wondering what could be so important that you HAD to have it next day? Have they started doing medication..........

    prime is next day delivery.

express is guaranteed next day delivery.

is the difference between first class stamp, and special delivery surcharge.

you didn;t pay for the premium service. so put away the legal dictionary.

Prime is described on their website as:

Guaranteed One-Day Delivery and Express Delivery apply all days except Sundays.

Amazon cannot argue that there has been a 'service interruption' or a 'failure caused by events outside Amazon.co.uk control', because they chose to use Home Delivery Not Likely. The buyer didn't.

The OP has paid an annual fee for a premium service. That service applies at any time of the year. The Christmas period isn't excluded. They are not providing the guaranteed premium service.

If Amazon fail to provide the guaranteed service, they should refund the equivalent Express delivery fee that would have been paid for a single order each time they fail.

  • I ordered something yesterday via Amazon prime next day delivery. Amazon emailed me last night to say that my delivery may be a day late (courier: HDNL... ) however, if it does arrive after the estinated delivery date, then they'll extend my Amazon Prime trial by a month. I can't complain too much about that, considering the service I've signed up for is only a month's free trial at the moment. Just wish they wouldn't use Yodel/HDNL - I've had no problems with the other carriers they use.

In the Ts & Cs of prime, it does state :

Amazon.co.uk does not guarantee First Class delivery of items within the estimated transit time or by the estimated delivery date. For One-Day, Express and Evening delivery guarantees please see their respective terms and conditions.

I have noticed Amazon Prime taking a bit longer than usual, and than advertised, at the moment. This is my first Christmas as a subscriber so I don't know if it's usual, but quite a few orders have been taking an extra day or so. I just assume they're very busy right now - not the best excuse but I'm not too bothered. Some couriers seem to be operating fine but HDNL seem to need an extra day or so. I can definitely understand the frustration if you wait in especially for a "guaranteed" delivery. Somebody's at home anyway for me, so I don't have that problem, but I know it's not the case for everybody.
This is everybody's fault but mine.
