    Sorry, i just don't get it ! Is it just me ?

    My version of Delia's Ultimate Carrot Cake is cheaper, goes further and is readily available with 1 hours notice. I refuse to line Heston Blumenthals pockets. I suppose he has an ex wife to pay for now though. That explains it.

    I've made one of those before. Was absolutely delicious, but took me far more than an hour to make (i count washing up as the "making" process) and could feed a rugby team.

    It's the best cake in the world (so my kids say) i've made it hundreds of times so have it down to a fine art now ! I have a dishwasher ! I made 2 on Friday for the Christmas fuddle at work, it vanishes pretty quickly !

    Have to confess, I hate carrot cake. There's something not quite right about vegetables in desserts.

    A speculative buche bubble!
  • It was predictable that this was going to happen, as it did with last years orange in the middle pudding! My prediction is that the marks and spencer Golden pudding will be the same.

    I did buy a wonderful 'Quick Defrost' Backwell Cheesecake last week, but because it took 20 minutes to get through the checkout it had, sadly, defrosted before I got it anywhere near my car - let alone home! However, I've managed to get another one and it was delicious - as is their Black forest Gateau which will be replacing that twatty Waitrose lump of brown lard which has driven me so mad this year.

    Just to let you know Southern folks , the word in Bold means something totally different up North, especially the North West.

    It is Rather rude and just another name for the 'C' word !

    Quackquack..... You naughty Girl :shocked::naughty:

    It means the same down south, too. Or at least that's how I've always used it.
  • I've lived a very sheltered experience. Eton & Heaven at birth, Geeves always stirs my tea with a silver spoon and Mummy & Daddy had the ITV knob removed from the television by the Harrods men when they delivered it.

    So forgive me for my inappropriate use of the word 'twatty' , particularly to people in the northern parts, I was not intending to describe anything as a ladies front bottom.

    Anyone care to share a recipe for a buche to accompany my Roast Swan on Christmas Day?
