I haven't been quite so annoyed by such an article in quite some time.

The NUS are suggesting that ministers have knowingly made cuts which have driven women into prostitution.
"They [ministers] know that the cuts they're making are driving women into things like sex work. It's a survival strategy so we would hold the government responsible for that."
How ridiculous & immoral is that!? Why would a student turn to prostitution simply because they have debts to pay when they start earning a certain amount of money?

They don't need the money today.

Then we have the girl who's having her EMA cut. Says she can't work as hours are unsociable. So she turned to escorting....because those hours are sociable?!!!

Whole of the ridiculous story here:

An individual has the right to do whatever they bloody well please with their own body. If they think the risks are worth the reward, well on them. Entrepreneurial spirit.

The real tragedy in this 'story' (which I agree is on tenuous ground already) is the way people are forced into the "informal economy" by outdated laws.
Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”
  • 1. What the NUS are saying is true - a need for cash drives women to prostitution
    2. This has sod all to do with fees as its always been the case and always will be fees or no fees.

Stack shelves for 20 quid a day... or

Get your t1ts out or open your legs for 200.

    Hard choice really.

Presumably the NUS providing opportunity, encouragement and a general culture where students to spend loads of cash on beer and nights out contributes nothing to people being hard up enough to take dodgy choices to earn money?

That's taxable income too. I wonder how many declare it though.

Yet no male students get into financial woes? Silly article to focus on half the story

what a strange leap of logic. we (male or female) choose to be students or not, and to supplement our income in what ever way we choose. If women could really be forced into prostitution in this way here then there would be a lot of competition in the market close to pay day or for any one living below the average wage.
