An impact driver is a totally different tool to a screwdriver, rachet, hand or electric. An impact driver is designed to remove stubborn screws or those where the slot has been damaged which makes a convential screwdriver useless.

Hmm...yes, but they also seem to be the preferred tool of many joiners as they drive screws much faster than screwdrivers due to their higher torque and impact feature.

We've used inpact drivers in the workshop for about 7yrs now and in general would never go back to cordless screwdrivers. The only time we do use screwdrivers is for small screws where you need a bit of finesse but for putting in 4" no 12 screws in hardwoods theres nothing better than impact drivers........

OP: Amazon are showing it as due to be back in stock on 21st December... it's also only £27.99

    Link

Peculiarly, it's actually cheaper to buy it with the attachments than it is to buy it without.

It's not a case of moving with the times when so called "upgrades" are nothing of the kind. People should get it into their heads that just because something is modern, doesn't mean it is in any way better because in many cases it won't be. Do you really think that your battery screwdriver will still be functional in 20 to 30 years time? I highly doubt it because they are not designed to last like stuff used to be, my screwdrivers are a testament to that. Only an occasional drop of oil is the only thing needed. No having batteries go flat mid way through a job.:rotfl::T

I have a battery powered screwdriver and it is no improvement on the pump action screwdrivers I have, in fact it is in no way better, only having downsides in my experience. I don't use it and wish I had not wasted money on it because the pump actions are far better and more usable.

Won't be my screw driver, its a Christmas present for someone who is hard enough as it is to buy for. By attachments I mean the angled things you put onto the driver not the screwdriver "bits" .

    !!!!!!, it's now £31.99. !!!!. Still a good deal though.

Hmm, I'm not sure where you should deliver. You could pay the extra for express delivery... or take out their Amazon Prime membership offer and get free next day if the item is prime eligible.
