O2 cooling off period, business contract?

Hi, I have just started up in business as a sole trader, though not earning any money yet (quite the opposite in fact!!!) and have been using my iPhone 3GS on tesco payg for the last couple of years.

I use it for lots of things not least my diary, so when it went missing just over a week ago, I felt lost! I was in town yesterday and popped into O2 and to cut a long story short, ended up signing up to a 24 month iPhone business pay monthly contract. I asked them to port the number over.

Fast forward to today, when my trusty old 3GS reveals itself when I moved my desk out to clean (which strangely we checked several times - weird!).

My new iPhone sim is not yet active as they are in the process of porting my old number over (apparently with the business ones they don't give you a temporary number till yours ports).

So my question is: can I take it back under their 14 day thing? Or is that just for personal customers? What will happen to my number, will I lose it?

Thanks,

Depends on the contract you agreed. As a sole trader, you should have the same ability to cance
As a consumer, but this does not extend to business users, so you'll need to ask. If you have the goods, return them ASAP and hope for the best. SOGA will not apply to business purchases either, if this was a Mail Order purchase. But I'm glad you got you're 3GS back!

If you brought the phone from a O2 shop i don't think you get 7-14 days to return

Once you sign a contract that's it you have to pay it

if you bought over the phone then you would get the 7-14 days to return it

Hope i am wrong and you get to cancel it Good Luck.

  • Yes you do have 14 days to cancel. Applies to all pay monthly new and upgrades (excluding fast track upgrades on business but as this was a new connection that does not apply). You will just be billed for the usage you have had. Just take it back to the store and explain that you want a 14 day cease. and they will arrange to port your number back.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

Hi, Just an update, I was able to cancel instore on Thursday, and the guy I spoke to phoned and cancelled the porting of my number.

However, my number has ported anyway on Friday, and since I no longer had my O2 phone and sim, I don't have a working phone at all now. Nobody is able to help me at the moment so i am just waiting for O2 customer services to open again tomorrow, but I am assuming I am going to have to wait for the number to be ported back - so hoping to have some kind of service by Weds - hugely regretting making this rash decision now - lesson learned!!!
