I've got a 1999 Matiz that's just failed its mot, only had a new £132 starter motor fitted 600 miles ago. I don't really know how to take this part off, so I'm keeping the battery which is new and selling the car for scrap, one guy offered me £40 saying it didn't weigh enough for more, would I be better off trying a car breaker do you think, it drives fine, who offered you £130 for your fiesta cbr?

    Floormats?
Battery, if it is any good?

Probably easier to just let it go and be shot of it though.

    thx victor,

I will be driving it there , so cant really lift bonnet on arrival and take battery can i ?

floor mats are worthless so they can stay ,

Think your right , probably best to just let it go !!

All DVLA registered ATF,s currently offer the going rate nationwide for scrap steel which is £130 per ton, i was told that the fiesta is worth approx a ton in scrap steel !!

Hence i was offered £130 scrap for it

For those who are saying its easy a fix or just a few pounds to put right, to get another few hundred sale price !!

Ok, Maybe i should explained the faults in detail more,

1- Starter noise, the ring gear on the flywheel has worn away, and i am sure you know whats involved there , if you dont google

2-The end of the cat where it connects to the flexi pipe has corroded away as has the flexi pipe also , AND ... the cat is integral to the exhaust outlet manifold thats atached to the engine,

3-Clutch badly worn needs new fitted clutch

Now tell me you can get that lot done , parts, labour and fitted,, to enable you to sell it, and get your money back spent on the repairs and not sell at a loss !!

its just not worth it !!!!!

    re the matiz.. use cartakeback.co.uk

a good diy mechanic could do all them OP. id still say bang it on ebay for 3 days then decide if you want rid. if its clean the fiesta owners club member would buy it no bother as rust is the bain of their lives lol

where are you OP. i want a clean fiesta for a bigger engine conversion so them faults make no odds to me as the engine would be scrap anyway

If you want to drive it to the scrappy for £130 then go ahead chap as it's your car but I am telling you if you put it on eBay, described honestly, you will get more than that for it. The fact several people here are interested in buying it (and I myself would have it for £130) should actually tell you something.

i was thinking can i remove the wheel covers and the ford radio/cassette before scrapping ?
    Anything elseworth keeping ?
Those items aren't worth keeping. New wheels trims are a tenner and a nearly 12 year old ford radio cassette is so common that it wont really even have a value.
