You all put me to shame, I can see a real opportunity to save money by planning as I spend a fortune in tescos, and then every night decide what to do, planning it is far more structured, I'm going to give it a go.

We all know that deep frying is not very healthy so here is a little tip. Add half a tomato and a sprig of lettuce to the side of the plate and you render the meal calorie and fat free.:rotfl:

I love Spam. My kids love Spam sandwiches in their lunch boxes. One of my favourite things to do with Spam is to dice it and stir fry with carrots, peppers , frozen peas, sweetcorn- any veg really, then douse liberally in soy sauce and mix up with some cooked rice.

I've had to change my plan already due to DH getting a new job on Friday, going out to celebrate then being unable to eat or function yesterday :] Here's what I think we're going to have, starting today

    Sunday: leek and mushroom pasta
    Monday: tandoori chicken
Tuesday: brocolli and pine nut pasta
Wednesday: celebratory takeaway night to celebrate DH's new job (he thinks he may be able to manage some champagne by then  )
    Thursday: mushroom risotto
    Friday: sausage and squash rice
    Saturday: out for lunch
Sunday: port tenderloin with red wine (made in SC)
Monday: pasta with tuna and tomato sauce
    Tuesday: thai-style soup
Wednesday: VALENTINES DAY - menu TBC!
    Thursday: prawn and lemon risotto

Lots of these recipes came from the OS recipe index so big thanks :T :T to everyone. Your menu plans for this month sound delish too, might steal some ideas for the rest of the month :) This will be my first ever time of using my SC too (see my plans for February below)

EDIT: changed tonight's tea as DH saw the chicken thighs and asked if we could have tandoori chicken instead, so will use some curry paste that's knocking around the store cupboard, make some raita and have a try at lindadykes's cheats' naan bread and pilau rice recipes :)

So this week we will mainly be eating (!!! HM unless I say otherwise)

Sunday - Ricotta and tomato tart with nutty couscous
Monday - Sausage and mash (from m&s:o we were "just passing through" and I remembered there count on us cabbage mash so decided to get some, sorry guys:rolleyes: )
    Tuesday - Macaroni Cheese
Wednesday - Curry leftovers from last week and shop bought Naan. (really should find out how to make this as I love it)
    Thursday - Omelette Night
Friday - Burgers and shop rolls.
Saturday - Mickey Chilli and rice

    mmm. hungry already.

(ps look out for green lentils in my meal plans over the next couple of weeks. Cleaned out a cupboard this morning and found 2 unopened packs. If I'd known I wouldn't have succumbed to the M&S mash)

Hi everyone, a store cupboard week for me after doing a stock check and realising that there is stuff in the cupboards which I can't see into unless I stand on a chair (why on earth do I have guava syrup?)

Monday: stirfry chicken in HM peanut sauce and rice
Tuesday: HM Black eye bean dahl, naan bread (if I can find the paddle for the breadmaker!)
Wednesday: is OH's B'day, so not sure yet
Thursday: Barbeque sticky chicken (HM, in freezer) and potato wedges
Friday: Baked breaded camabert, saute potaoes and salad
Saturday: HM bean pot and crusty bread

Need to make b'day cake for OH, chocolate muffins for work and I guess I'll also make guava cheesecake now...
