Thank you.
Will show this to my Sister.
The one think I am worried about is that Dad will think we are taking control of everything, so giving him the info to read will put his mind at rest. You could try ringing the Office of the Public Guardian
On this link

it says to contact them if you haven't got internet access so it might be that they will send paper forms out
If your Dad is savvy, he'll soon realise the sense in getting POA sorted out.0 -
It might help persuade him if you do yours at the same time.0

I have just started reading this thread from the beginning and realised the advice was 2011. Is there an updated guide in this thread that someone can direct me to? Save me having to trawl through it all. Thanks.0

Has anyone looked into the availability of suitable reasonably priced rubber stamps to make certified copies? My wife and I each have to certify four copies of both LPA's, 240 pages, 4,500 words. We really don't want to write it all out by our miserable hands. Signing and dating each page isn't the problem, it is the rest of the wording that the OPG insist on.
There must be a simpler, cost effective way, any suggestions would be appreciated, there must be a ready market for these stamps which will only be used once.0 -

Yes, the hand written certification for four documents is certainly a pain. However, if you look at the documents carefully you will see that on some pages there is very little space for a printed stamp and it would have to be applied right at the bottom of the page, or on some pages, elsewhere on the pages where there is some clear space so I don't think it's really practical. If a rubber stamp isn't clearly visible in total on every page, some pernickerity institution could refuse to accept it as a valid copy.
We just typed out the words to be written in large print on a spare piece of paper, made a calming cup of tea and sat down and worked out way through it.
I suppose if you have arthritic hands and writing is really a problem, you do this in batches, 30 minutes at a time or have to pay through the nose and get a solicitor to certify copies for you.0 -
Scan the original onto a PC and add the text in whatever photo editing software you have available.0

My parents bought a pair of stamps from Amazon. They weren't cheap (about £19) but it was too much for them to write out the statements over and over. My DH and I need to sort our POAs too so the stamps will get used again. I guess we could put them on ebay once all the family have finished with them. Just double check that the statement on the stamps exactly matches the required wording before you buy them.MFW since March 2019Mortgage-free 30th June 2023

Thanks for the rubber stamp replies, it's not an easy task whichever way you look at it so I will mention the problem to the OPG who could be more helpful in this regard. I have already gone to the time and expense of having the copies made and scanning and editing into the copies was beyond me I'm afraid.0

Yes - wouldn't it be a whole lot easier if the form included a question stating "how many official copies would you like". The OPG could charge eg £3 per copy and send them all out at once. When we got married, we were able to pay £3 for extra copies of marriage certificate.MFW since March 2019Mortgage-free 30th June 2023

I’ve had my mums power of attorney returned and they are stating it’s been printed incorrectly. It says some of the pages are printed back to back ! How hard do they want to make this? It’s taken weeks to get my sister and I and the witness to sign in the correct order as we don’t live close to each other. This is madness!!0
