    On a slightly different point, can anyone recommend a dongle to use with a Macbook running OS X "Snow Leopard"? The ones I looked at (admittedly not very recently) all seemed to require Windows which I left behind a long time ago.

    If you get a Wi-Fi one i..e. a Mi-Fi it won't matter what OS you are using.
