18yo CAR INSURANCE suggestions????

Hey, I've just turned 18 and I have an X-reg, 3dr, 1.1l citroen saxo forte, with group 4 insurance.

Ive been looking around various websites for the cheapest 3rd party car insurance , including confused.com, which doesnt give me much under £2000

However on quinn-direct.com i have been quoted £1440. But when i enter the same details on confused.com, its gives a quote over £2000 from quinn-direct...

So i was wondering if anybody has any suggestions on who else to try for cheaper car insurance for 18 year olds...

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

There are plenty of posts on this subject so I suggest you look back through this board or try a search.

TBH if your male, live in a city and have only just passed your test I think the quotes you are getting seem about right. Have you considered a pass plus? The cost of the course is normally covered by the savings in the insurance and could make you a better driver. Remember with TPFT you are responsible for paying for the transport and damage to your car if you are involved in an accident.

yes, ive tried the quotes with pass plus on quinndirect and it knocks off a further £200 but i really want to have my insurance by this monday, and waiting so long to pass further driving tests doesnt appeal so much

i am happy to go with 3rd party / 3rd pf+t, just so long as the final quote is as cheap as possible...

also, in applying for pass plus, if i get into a crash and they find out i havent taken the tests, will the insurance be void???
as one of my friends has done this, and it does save some serious money

    thanks for reply^!;)

When I first got insurance with PP it was on condition I took the course within about 60 days - so you were insured straight away and just had to make sure the PP was organised and completed within the deadline, otherwise i think they charged you extra.

Just remember about false economies - if you write the car off then you could be left with nothing plus a sizeable bill for recovery, as many people learn to their cost. I myself crashed twice in my first 18 months of driving so for me fully comp was well worth the extra cost.

Roughly costs six hours tuition with an approved instructor, quite possibly your own. I did it in an afternoon.

some councils offer subsidies for the scheme see https://www.passplus.org.uk

Your mate is guilty of committing offences under The fraud Act 2006 whereby be has gained pecuniary advantage by getting a lower quote by falsely stating he has passed his PassPlus.

Be very wary of doing this as prosecutions will follow.

Not only that but should he have an accident his insurance will be void.

hes got contacts who can 'give' him the certs tho so its not much of a problem for him.

ive looked on pass plus, but saw no money figures...would it be less than £100 do u think for those 6 hours?
