    hi

I have been on a few sun / daily mail holidays now and i think they do work out cheaper IF you need to have dates in school holidays.

Out of season i don't think there is much difference especially if you upgrade. We have never upgraded as we have a dog - but i presume that a single upgrade would get a standard plus and a double upgrade would get you a delux...

But last year we had sun or daily mail breaks end of easter holidays , Aug bank holiday and Oct half term, and paid £80 - £120 pounds for them when they would have been much more money booking direct for those school holiday dates.

When are you hoping to go away? and what park do you want? there are some parks that we like - Perran Sands, Hafan y Mor that i will not book with newspaper offers as i don't want a chalet.

i was thinking of Presthaven Sands or Greenacres and booking 04th May for 3 days just not sure whether to book luxury plus £18 or premier plus £40.
  • yep got my priority booking form today too, with bonus code too, so will be eagerly awaiting the codes to book my second haven holiday for this year, already have one booked courtesy compensation from last years holiday :D

Yey i got my code in the post this morning as well, just trying to work out where we are going to go now which is proving really difficult.

Does anyone know if the parks called minehead, skegness, and bognor are actually butlins sites?

On the other hand can anyone else recommended a good lively site that we can go to, we went to one last year and although we really enjoyed ourselves we would like to go somewhere really fun and lively this year

Yes, i understand minehead, skegness and bognor all to be butlins sites....

would love to go to butlins but have a dog so can't go on the newspaper offer as is chalets only...

i think Haven 5 star sites are lively in that they have more pools, on site acitivities BUT you have to pay for many extra things...

we are off to Primrose Valley in Easter which is 5 star and i am hoping lively on site in the day for the kids..

i have been to Presthaven sands and we really enjoyed it - the kids loved the pool / lazy river and the beach is very good...

as i said earlier we have never upgraded as we have a dog - i would look at the list of what your get for an ugrade and decide if it is worth the money.... we tend to use the caravan for eating and sleeping and so basic is fine for us..if you did not upgrade to £40 what extra activity could you put the money towards?

but as i said i have never looked at the upgrades because of the dog so have no idea if it is worth the money or not!

Does anyone know if the upgrade gives you a "better" / different location on the parks? or just a better caravan?

When we were at Presthaven we were in a bit of a cramped area ie you could not park next to the van - but the strip we were in had both standard and delux vans both used by sun holiday people - so same location but different vans - but i don't know if this is the same at all sites??

Thanks for the tip artichoke, i googled the five star haven parks, and have decided to go with one of those as our first choice. I cant wait, it looks awesome :-)

brilliant - which one are you going to? all our holidays are these cheap deals recently - we did 4 newspaper deals last year (all in school holidays) for the price of one Haven trip in school holidays the year before - and we have never been disappointed! I cant decide what to try and book in the next round of offers....We book standard vans -as we take the dog and lots of extra duvets, - and spend the extra money on activities in the pool eg aqua jets - for the kids...

i asked the kids what they preferred - 4 cheap weekend breaks or one week - guess what the answer was!

Rockley park - 144 artichoke, i love the idea of the spa, the entertainment and the pools. Ive read the reviews and i think there were enough positive ones there for me to consider taking the risk lol. Although if anyone has any other experiences there i would love to hear about it.
We only started going on the sun holidays last year, we went to newquay caravan park, which was lovely. We are also going to france in march, on the disney deal. Gotta love the sun, i cant believe the deals we are getting! Im actually quite tempted to book two sun holidays, but we want to go abroad as well this year, and im worried about running out of holidays with work lol
