if that includes the occasional burger, kebab, fish and chips or whatever - it will do you no harm whatsoever.

Fine in theory, but do they have to drown their chips in a ton of salt? Whatever happened to choice? (other than don't bl**dy go there!)

The fries use to be salted going by the individual's tasted, if you watch them now it seems salt container they use is set to give out a measured amount. I hear that McD's are considering not to Salt the fries but to leave them unsalted and give out salt portions, giving us the consumer the choice.

I believe everyones entitled to choice, so if you want a McD's or any other takeaway outlet then so be it. The problem is that people are lazier these day and want something quicker rather than making it at home so they frequent these outlets more frequently than they should so removing the 'eat as part of a varied diet' aspect. Like you said you don't have too go to those places I avoid them if I can, I just think that when I do go there the hunger pang I have for it is quickly satisfied but within an 1hour I'm hungery again, so I may as well a 'proper' meal.

Their should be adverts on TV showing people excerising and which foods to eat as part of a Healthier diet giving a quick explaination to what the friut, veg or meat/fish does for you ie which vitamin it gives, or if it gives you iron or omega 3. The balance of advertising need to be more level than just advetising junk foods.

    I've got an idea:
    1. turn over / off the TV when offending advert appears
    2. Don't watch TV coz the programs are worse than the junk food ads
    3. Quite difficult, but bring kids up to realise that these ads are silly and that you, as a parent, have control over what you kids eat.
Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!

I wish they'd 'pull them' as I wince too not the fact they're trying to stop you smoking but the fact that a person could have a fish hook tugging at the face, I'm just sqeamish bout stuff like that. I think the ad is horrible.

alas McDonald's sell salads - so they avoided the ban

It's ironic that, as some of the salads have more fat and calories in them than the burgers

Any processed food is usually laden with rubbish - but all things are ok in moderation. The trouble is that schoolkids tend to flood into the junk houses and eat the stuff daily.

I'm just glad that MacJunks have stopped doing the free Disney cuddly things with "Happy Meals" -my grandchildren used to drive me nuts to go in there - and that is about the last place I would take any children to......

Eating rubbish off of polystyrene boxes is not my idea of a nice meal out.

If they want to advertise, it should be after the watershed - adults can choose whether to go there or not.

Gross as it was, I preferred the fat coming out of a cigarette one. Not nice for the non smoking population or anyone for that matter, but if they have kept that one on, I would be far more likely to give up. I cut down loads when they had that advert on.

The fish hook advert (I'm sorry to say), has had no impact on my ciggy habit - bit like all the other warnings, smokers become immune to it all.

The advert I just have to walk out of the room for, is the child looking as though she has been killed by a car doing 40mph, slowly coming back to "life" to show what should happen at 30mph.

She reminds me of the "Chucky Doll" in those old horror films.

I suppose that's what may make the advert effective, which can only be a good thing.

But, it gives me the creeps.

Poor old McD and BK come in for a lot of unjustified flak; sorry to say, such as the above.

As I said before, the occasional burger, etc isn't going to do you any harm. To call it "rubbish" is not really justifiable, most of the ingredients are good quality, "fresh" food. In a Big Mac for example, the only thing that might be classified as a bit suspect might be the processed cheese slice.
Also the incidence of food poisoning is much lower in places like McDs, because the food is prepared, then covered, in your "polystyrene box" (actually paper/cardboard nowadays) and eaten in a very short period of time.

People who criticise McDs and refuse to let their children enter these dens of iniquity will quite happily feed their kids on all sorts of real junk food - just because it came from Sainsbury's, Tesco's or wherever.
Just read the label on a lot of breakfast cereals, ready meals, savoury snacks, soft drinks etc, these are the real "rubbish".
I'm sorry to say that the reason most kids eat "junk" when they are out is because they are fed junk at home.

My kids weren't banned from McDs, even had a couple of birthday parties there. Did them no harm at all, they still eat reasonable diets - second daughter's favourite veg is spinach !

Agree totally with the comments about toys etc - should cover cartoon characters on packaging too.

Take them into McDs, occasionally, they will think a lot more of you - apart from which, if you ban something it becomes even more attractive !!

PS: I don't work for McDs, it really is the last place I would work !!!

Just look at the contents of the seemingly healthy Sunny Delight. It reads like the inventory of a medium-sized chemical laboratory.
