Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 11th December). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Ladies :D

Up with the larks this morning.....Haven't caugut up on w/end threads yet so will do in a mo.

Today....Nowt on I so can get my hair chopped and tidy up the house. Tree is up but not decorated yet :p.

Hope your all well - Love and hugs where needed xx

Good Morning Bargainbird - and all to follow!
Cold and wet here so washing heading for TD/radiators methinks.
Busy busy w/e so not been on here since to catch-up yet.
((HUGS)) to JackieG, Dazi, and everyone one else who needs them just now.
Need to persuade DS up into the loft to get the decs down later today. Need to crack on with the cards too. Be good to do some HW as house is definitely in need of a little TLC! Hoping to get some baking done too. Bought myself a beautiful quilted shopping bag with interior zipped pocket at Saturday's church fair. Perhaps I could have a go at something similar next year - doesn't appear to be too difficult and looks lovely.
Oh well, would like to catchup on here a bit while having my first cuppa! Hope you all have a great day. Guess all the school people are counting down to Friday!
    Take care , everyone.

    Ding dong! merrily on high,
In heav'n the bells are ringing:
    Ding dong! verily the sky
    Is riv'n with angel singing.

    Morning :santa2:
In my calendar - a Christmas pud :xmassmile

Mr tru stood on my mouse yesterday (ooooh that's sounds rude). The scroll wheel and the left button don't work, I can't get on with the mousepad on the laptop so I'm combining the two. It'll probably take me half an hour just to type this post, lol.

My cold returned with a vengeance yesterday, I gave in and took some cold and flu tablets.

Two more things have been crossed off my list, I now have somewhere to hang coats and the new curtains poles are up. The pole on the landing is a bit wonky - where we drilled was right next to a previously drilled hole but it's since been replastered and we didn't know it was there. So about 1cm into the wall, the drill skewered off into the old hole, lol. It'll have to stay that way for now.

I need to make two pairs of tab top curtains out of the old lounge curtains (easy) and sew linings into another two pairs (easy but not sure of the best way to do it). I bought blackout material, do I need to unstitch the curtains all round and sew the material into the hems? Or can I just stitch it across the top and let it hang loose - and if I do this, does the lining need to be hemmed? It feels like it won't fray IYSWIM.

When I've finished the sewing, I'll be writing Christmas cards and threading the chocolate coins ready to hang on the tree.

It took ages to scrape the car his morning, brrr, some of the roads are closed round here due to work on the railway bridge, there are diversions in place & this morning it was a nightmare as someone had thrown all the road signs into the road, they are difficult to see in the dark. The footpath is also tricky to walk along as the street lights aren't working either.
I have fruit, milk & eggs to drop off at DD's this morning, DS is always up & waiting to see me every Monday morning.
Pasta bake for tea tonight & HM leek, carrot & potato soup for my lunch.
    Have a good day eveybody.
    Hugs Hester

tru, sure it will be fine loose but do hem it.

Morning all. Lots of weather warnings for snow, ice, wind, you name it really, this week so take care everyone. I'm hiding from the cold in bed until I absolutely have to get up and get ready for work. I can't get to Lidl until this evening after work and uni so fingers crossed they have some fleece sheets and such left.
All my xmas shopping is done and wrapped, but there is a pack of cards I need to tackle. My Mum told me yesterday how she queued outside Aldi to get my dad a bottle of 40 year old whisky for xmas- she told him she didn't get one but she did really :D
OS today: put a wash on and change the sheets.
Uni work: loads :( I found out yesterday I need to give an assessed interim report for my dissertation in on thursday so that will have to take priority for a few days.

    Morning everyone,

We put the tree up yesterday, it looks lovely while sitting in the dark having a cup of tea.

Work today and then I am off to a carol concert to get me in the Christmas mood, I also need to buy some more Christmas cards I have used up all the ones that I bought in January last year.

Tea tonight is left over chilli from Saturday night.

Hugs to Beth, JackieG and Lou (yes you do deserve them!) and anyone that I may have missed.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning everyone

Wet and cold here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Weekend reasonably busy, took DS1 to mum and dad's Friday evening as he was going out with them on Saturday - they bought him a learning to drive experience for his birthday - he absolutely loved it and apparently is better than some 17 year olds the instructor has tried to teach!! (DS1 was 15 on Friday).

We took the caravan Saturday morning but discovered a problem with the gas fire and the gas flow - so finished up leaving the caravan and I didn't drink and I drove us home after the party - party was ok. DS1 had a rugby match scheduled for yesterday but the other team didn't send a team, so they did a training session, next Sunday we're going out for lunch and taking the grandparents as DS1's birthday meal. Back to work today am going in a bit early as I'm an opener. Remembered to get pork chops out of the freezer so we'll have those with mash and veg for dinner tonight. Lunch yesterday was roast beef etc, was all eaten so must have been ok! Must get the xmas cards sorted over the next couple of days otherwise they'll still be spread over the dining room table at New Year! Want to get the last bits of wrapping finished asap and I must marzipan the xmas cake at some point this week - and still have some xmas food to organise/buy - wanted to be ready by now but week off didn't quite go to plan!

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Cold and pouring with rain here this morning. I never slept well last night as the rain kept waking me up. Finished the hamper for MIL yesterday so I'm pleased with that. I've only got a few sweets to get now for other people and mission Christmas shopping will be complete :j

Hope everyone has a lovely day xx

    Morning folks
Was supposed to be the sunny day of the week here I think but rain instead. Oh well.
Last Monday I have to get up early for work until the lghter mornings start as I finish for Christmas on Friday. I'll be glad of lighter days as it's so dark out there!
Tea is cold chicken, wedges and salad for DH and nut/ soya roast instead of the chicken for me. Or quiche. Had DH's uncle and also DD and her boyfriend round for Sunday yesterday and we had a buffet lunch so it will be left overs this week. Nice and easy. Pickles anmd coleslaw too yum.
Have a good day folks. Keep warm.

    Morning all

A week and half of the DS's at school I'm trying not to panic but this is the point I decide they don't have enough and go and out and buy more- must resist, DS2 off with a poorly chest so I will not be going to work luckily work are good and I can probably just swop my days over- he's fine in himself since being a baby if he gets poorly it goes straight to his chest- spent many a night rigged up to oxygen in the childrens wards he has been ok for a while so he's been taking his inhalers and hopefully the doctors may just prescribe the steroids if he needs them.
Tree is arriving this week so shouldbe up by Thursday, cards and wrote apart from a few more family ones I need to buy may pop out with DS today as he's fine in himself.
Loads of ebay parcels to take to the PO, off to phone work and the doctors

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning All,

Not feeling so bad after my nightmare drive this morning.

All presents bought other than one which DH will pick up as its football trainers which I know nothing about:o

Want to nip to Aldi and HBargains for my bits as Peter Kay would say:rotfl:but will leave it til later in the week.

Planning a nsd at home today. Perhaps I will hear about the job today. It's been a week, is that normal, I don't know, would you ring them if they haven't been in touch by the end of the week??

Hoping some parcels will be delivered today.

Omelette for tea as we have a glut of eggs probably with sausages.

House is clean and tidy for once and all washing up to date. I manage to surprise myself sometimes:D

Hugs were needed, have a good Monday J x
