You can afford to choose between lots of cars then. When looking, make sure specifically that the 'soft roader' you're looking for actually has 4 wheel drive, plenty don't as some people do just buy them for the look and the reassurance of being high up, though, like you, I'm sure they all want proper 4wd now!
Make sure you are comfortable with the size of the vehicle too, any of these will be a lot bigger than a Corsa. You don't want to be one of those people that always get slagged off in this forum for not being able to drive their car.
If we're into CRV territory, we're going quite big. No-one has mentioned the Freelander yet. You might like the 3 door if you want something 'sporty' looking. Also think about a BMW X3.0
