tis funny how we've all gone through a stage where we're so used to bank accounts being overdrawn that it feels 'wrong' when they're not, or that we've made a mistake with our budgets somewhere along the line that will come back and bite us. Long may the positive cash flows continue.

you certainly deserve your new pair of shoes my lovely, i'll bet you probably wouldn't have been able to get a second hand pair for such a good price so they're the right choice even more so. (doesn't make sense but not sure how else to phrase it lol)

Go for it Starnac, I am planing a few wall hangings as various presents at the moment, as well as for us....still in the planning stage though!! Look forward to seeing your creations!

The card is only post-card size...stiffened with what is called pelmet vilene (your local fabric shop should have some). I stuck the material onto it using bondaweb...wonderful stuff. Then I stitched through it all with the sewing machine...too stiff to hand sew, I would use wadding (batting) if I wanted to hand-sew a piece.

Right, back to work on the book-keeping course stuff...putting it off, would rather be sewing!!

Pippi - you have mail :)

I spoke to cheery about it the other day - its funny when you get down to the nuts and bolts of what you can live on minimally - its hard to adjust.

Hi pippi - you wouldn't know it to look at my sig :o but this is something that i have been thinking about just this last week really. As i'm pushing hard towards debt freedom (hopefully by my birthday this year) i'm also trying to think of how to budget once i am debt free  As much as i want to remain as frugal as possible there *will* be some necessary changes - mainly *adventures* as these are things i could do with more of :D Due to throwing all i can at the debt there is alot of things i haven't done in the past few years simply due to finances :( My big difficulty now is working out my *own* spending money - i've had nothing for so long so its hard to think how much is enough ? e.g. I'd *like* to start music lessons but these are £30 each  so 1 a week would be too much and 1 a month too little so once a fortnight - its still £60 though  and thats before i've got round to crafty goodness and shoes :D Seriously though if anyone has any advice i'd really appreciate it :)

That is only the second that I have made, the first was a Valentines Card for DH.

In both cases I used material that I dyed myself. This card is a good luck card, though when I had cut and attached the material, I was originally thinking of making a Clarice Cliff inspired card for DH's niece!! Funny how your ideas change. :)

As I am enjoying making them, I will make a few more...could be a good one to sell!! I attached another lighter dyed piece of material to the back before edging the card. I wrote on it using a permanent marker. Going to investigate using my printer to do the writing, might look better...once I know how!

It is a very strange thing to actually have money to do something with! I've not really this month having just paid the last bit of debt off, but as of next month I will suddenly have lots more available. I've still got a budget worked out though, but it's mainly aimed at being able to save lots so I've just upped my food spend a little bit, I pay £60 for music lessons strangely enough, and then I've given myself £50 for bits and pieces like books and clothes. Everything else goes to savings, some for long term and some for things like holidays and the courses I want to do. I'm not actually sure I could cope now without at least rough budgets - think the DFW habits get ingrained!

Dedicated, one of the things I did was to make a list of those things I wanted to do and roughly how much they cost, so they were either budgeted for each month (like the lessons) or I can figure out when I'll have saved up enough to do them.

The nice thing I suppose is having that flexibility, if there's something you really want/ need then you can choose to buy (or do) that and save a little bit less that month. Still feels very weird though!

I think they would be very easy to sell, and they could cover any occasion. Have nearly fallen over with impressedness when you said you dyed your own material :T
