Reassuring to hear it's not just me that's had a slow start to 2012! Started comping in October and to be fair I had really good luck, winning lots of little bits and bobs and a few bigger things like a smartphone and gig tickets (thanks to all who post comps, you are stars!:T). My little girl had an accident in November so I had time out to deal with that and have just started again in January but nothing yet. I guess it's still early days so think positively everyone! I have big ambitions to win lots this year! :j Fingers crossed the comping fairy remembers where we all live soon!

When you don'tm win it's because you're not trying enough or wasting time on cruddy comps that take time...or pure awful luck, the one thing that's sure about luck is that it changes though so you'r'e back to nt trying hard enough.

Theories on here abut walls having comps all over them are bunk...mine is and I do very well on FB, as do lots of my friends.
The odds on the ITV and sinilar comps ...long, but much better thn the lottery as is the price to play. 35k entries? What's that? People, entries or phone numbers? IF it's entries you can divise that by 6x as many phones numbers as you use, in my case that's 18. Odds look better now? See what I mean about trying?

IF you have a bad month, you'll have a good one to balance it or maybe already have....but it's not gonna happen if you slow down or quit. Either way it's not gonna cst you much except time to find out.

I see some of the trivial stuff people waste time on trying to win and wonder sometimes. Not worth the effort to win it...you could have entered half a dozen other ones instead in that time.
The single most annoying and amusing thing people do though...not read the rules. "Comment here to enter" and the wall ends up festooned with answers that aren't going to be entries.

IF you assume that you'll win a good few things over a year, don't expect anything huge, and just keep plugging away regularly ...I think you'll hit 2013 with a decent haul. Someone is going to win those biggies...one day there's no reason that can't be you. Just don't get bitter and annoyed when it isn't.
Personally I get as big a buzz from a friend winning something wicked that has them OMG OMGing as I do winning stuff myself. Always enjoy seeing adults reduced to acting like 5 year olds on Xmas morning lmao

Does anyone think that maybe companies track where we link to the competition from, or am i just being paranoid?

Some people enter anything and everything and do win loads but when you take look at what they've actually won it's generally a load of tat. Take away the promotional cups, tea towels and year's supply of Sugar Puffs they probably don't win much more than you. Personally, I'd rather have fewer decent wins than loads of rubbish that I wouldn't use, certainly wouldn't give away as a gift, and that will just clog up cupboard space.

I've been comping for about 3 years, entering around 4000 comps per month and never won anything worth over £250, never won a holiday, cash and only won my first vouchers (£50 Disney) a couple of months ago, I think I've paid my dues (:rotfl: ) but I'm still waiting for something to blow my mind! Some people really are just luckier than others and consistently win amazing prizes. Just the way the cookie crumbles.

As far as facebook wall contents are concerned, mine is solid with comps, and I get 60-70% of my wins from Facebook, so I don't think it makes any difference for most, although obviously some sponsors do look, so set your wall security for maximum privacy. Twitter for me is a complete blank, won nothing despite '000s of retweets and follows.

I've had a crazy four months, I enter 1500+ comps a week and have had 20 decent wins in 20 weeks, including 5 ipad2s within 10 days, 2 x7 day hols, 3 x weekend breaks, a 40" tv and stacks of vouchers!! Equally I have won absolutely nothing for the last 10 days. It's all random, just keep plugging away, the wins will come eventually. Also don't forget that for a lot of comps you won't hear about wins for months, the telly comp closed 01/11 and I only heard I had won 6 weeks later, last year I received a WEM six months after a comp closed!!

I can't believe you won 5 iPad 2's!!! How lucky is that?

Thanks ChuckieD for your post, that's exactly my reasoning. People say they've won this and that and it turns out to be a poster, or a tea-towel, a magnet. TBH, I'd rather concentrate on something big like TV, cash etc... and if you think about it more people are going to be entering those, not taking into account all those damn auto-entries as well.

I'm quite happy to wait for my big one, for me I'm still in it for the thrill and the anticipation of what the next morning might bring.. a WEM, a call, a letter, a package who knows?!
