Is my name on a blacklist? :(

Hello all,

I started comping in 2009 and during 2009/2010 won lots of little bits and pieces quite regularly at least 2 or 3 wins a month - books, theme park tickets, hotel stays, goody bags, digital photo frame, clothes etc.....

However.. during 2011 I have only won 3 small items! :(

Has my run of luck finished? Is my name on a list that says i've won too much?

Comping seems to have changed slightly with more and more competitions being linked to Facebook and Twitter which I dont normally do - maybe I should? I find twitter very hard to get my head around :o

Any advise?

I win alot from the competitions that you have to enter daily. The spin the wheel type, enter once a day etc. I won a bottle of Bacardi recently, and a £20 from Visa that way. So keep an eye on the dailies thread.

Im trying postal entries too now, I used to win alot from facebook but can't use it properly since the changes. I would say expand your horizons a bit, try other ways. Good luck. x
    Wishing you all good luck!

There is no blacklist for winning, I remember recently (last week) someone posting on here that they had just won for a SECOND time on Dickinson's Real Deal which are big cash prizes. Just the luck of the draw so keep faith! :D

I've been comping since 2008 and my wins have pretty much stayed the same, BUT I do do Twitter/FB comps, I've only had a couple of Twitter wins (which is dead easy to use) but I've had a lot of Facebook comps.

You could try some comping karma, have a clear out and give stuff to charity or find some comps to post yourself. I find whenever I do something nice, I get a nice win!

Ps. Hello Red Cat, I'm from Cambs too!
    2009 Wins = £833
    2010 Wins = £6,597
    2011 Wins = £7,083

    £2,012 in 2012 = £450/£2,012
    20 in 2012 = 4/20
  • Re Twitter:
When you set it up, it gives you a walkthrough of how to do basic things then on here there are some lovely people who post the thing to follow and the thing to tweet - Just click them and log in if it asks you to. I can't work Twitter either but that bit is easy enough to do

    Keep trying:)

  • I've had a pretty dry year but a few nice surprises like 3 Asos dresses and a £150 bike for my little boy! Just keep trying!
  • i think things have changed. i have never had huge wins but enough to keep me going. now, though i win very, very little and i think i probably put more effort in. i think more people are doing competitions, i think there are more facebook and twitter based competitions- and although i do them i have had very little luck. i also think that changes to the competition site haven't helped me. i now have to trawl through a lot of dross. i liked the ease of likeability and end date and regret its passing. Although i have read how to search threads etc i don't find it the same. changes like posting advents in main thread rather than just keeping them separate makes comping a chore. i wish you loads of luck and am very grateful to those who post competitions and orgnise the site but must admit i am thinking of giving it up as a bad job!!

I think part of the lack of wins is, there are far more people doing comps now that there used to be 2 or 3 years ago - and they are reaching so many more people because of facebook & twitter, plus its been on tv as being a way of supplementing your income, if you have time on your hands - its just a case of keep plodding on. I was a total addict until about 6 months ago, but was away for nearly 3 months, and am finding it difficult to get back into - on the other hand, it did take over my life (sad or what) so I don't really want to get into it that much again.

I signed up to Twitter for comping, but still can't really get my head around it. However I have had quite a few wins from Facebook, so I'd recommend that. They're often the same to enter as other comps - just a form to fill in. If you do, remember to keep an eye on your 'other' messages inbox on it, as a lot of people have missed wins that have gone there instead of to their main facebook inbox.

Other than that, just keep at it. Every time you enter there's a certain probability whether or not you will win, there's no such thing as a lucky streak (or an unlucky streak!), but you have to be in it to win it. Maybe go for some local comps (my city has a few free magazines which run comps weekly), as these will have less people entering. Also things like mascara and other make up prizes, there are often 1000 up for grabs, so a better chance of winning (I've won at least 4 mascaras - I hope to never have to buy one again!).

Keep at it, and good luck!

I think Companies have got better things to do than keep a list of people who they don't want to win their competitions. They wouldn't be allowed to get away with it anyway, the rules they have to abide by are so strict now.
