If my boiler had blown I would buy a new one myslef and say to a mate down the golf club I know.
Can you install my boiler. He would say yes course I can but it will cost you about £200, no probs see you monday. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
ok calm down both.
yes the pics were for your benefit, if your mechanic checked the rear mount he will know what one you need, you take him pics i gave you he will be insulted, i know i would, ive had three people in the past do this to me, and it is insulting i even refused to fit for the one person as he showed me a pick for a sodden 501 side light for a fiesta i just said you know where its you know what you need go fit yourself and not insult me with this crap infront of me.
like with all garages they will hike the labour if they dont supply the parts, even if you think their mates or reliable.
i'm supplying a timing belt kit and water pump to a garage wednesday to fit on my car, i know the chap, i was in school with his son, i have no problem with his skills, but i do have w problem what is fitted to my car, and only trust certain brands they maybe dear but for quality parts that what you pay for.
he stipulated to me, because you supplied the parts i charge an extra £6.50 perhour labour because i lose money not supplying the parts wich is fair enough in my book.
my OH has fitted a renault engine mount and she has NO clue about cars whatso ever, but these rear mounts are so easy to do she did it without even asking for help.0 -

Thanks for your replies I appreciate what you have done. as for my mechanic hes a mate so theres not going to be insults etc.
At the end of the day im on 'moneysaving' expert.
I understand businesses losing money, but as the guy above said regarding a boiler, Its crap, British gas quotes me £6000 to replace a boiler, yet my mate who is Corgi, well the gas safe one now, can do the same job for like £1600
Im here to save a little bit of cash thats all, I take my business to mates and give them my money not the big sharks in the sea. Maybe espresso is one of those big companies. Well at the end of the day I need to look after me, my wife and my home.
Cheers for your help mate I will feed the info tomorrow. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -

It's not crap at all as atrixblue.-MFR- has explained to you.
Nobody in their right mind would get BG to fit a boiler but if you think that you can supply one yourself and get then it fitted cheaper, then you are deluded. Even your mate from the golf course will make a substantial part of his money from supplying the boiler himself, due to his trade discount.
Welcome to the real world. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

So you are saying all British Gas customers are??All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
So you are saying all British Gas customers are??
Stupid YES!
There are plenty of RGI that will do a better job than BG at a far lower cost. BG are for those idiots that think that if it has British in the name it must be good, when it simply means that you will get ripped of British style. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

thats a nasty thing to say.
It's not nasty at all, it's a fact. This is a money saving site and if you have money to burn then get BG to fit your boiler, if not then get your local RGI to do it for a competitive price. Get several RGI's to quote and simply forget BG as they will all be much cheaper than BG and do a better job. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

This thread turned strange while I went out lol.
I do sometimes buy parts off of ebay if I know if its the right part but as you are unsure it may be wise to try a local motor factor for a price then if its the wrong part you can take it back easier.
The other side of it how much did your mechanic quote you for doing it, the reason I ask is if you supply your mechanic the part for him to fit and that part becomes defective under warranty then you will have to pay labour again on the part to be removed and to refit another one (but if he supplied and fitted it would be his problem).
