buyer asking to post item to address different

hi all!

im fairly new with selling on ebay and recently, a buyer ask me to post item to address that is not registered with paypal. although the address is slightly different (registered address has no house number and buyer wanted me to post to specific house number) i advised buyer to update her paypal account. now, buyer said i am out of order and being difficult. buyer has low score of 4.

any advise will be taken on board.

  • I would still ask them to update their Paypal address with full address details and send it tracked for your protection.
Does this person know their addess details are incomplete on Paypal?

'Tis the buyer who is being difficult. If you send to an address which is not registered with paypal you have no protection.

Also paypal will take a dim view if the buyers account details aren't up to date
It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type
  • They might think if it's a Xmas present for someone at thier address they want it sending to a family/friends address nearby.
Personally I would refund their payment and give your reasons why, a normal person should understand.

There is no reason the buyer cant add addresses to paypal.
I have added three addresses to mine .
I cant be home all day waiting for the postie .

It's the paypal address that counts, not the ebay one. And if there's no house number, but that's all they are adding, then it's ok to send.
  • Perhaps your buyer has been suspended before and thinks not adding a house number will get around eBay finding them.

As they are a new user then it could be a glitch, disappearing house numbers happen often with new users.

If the eBay address on the 'view order details' page has no house number either and the messages between you and the buyer have gone via the eBay messaging service CS would likely remove poor feedback.

Should you actually send the parcel, after the buyer proclaiming your are being difficult, be sure to send the parcel tracked just incase they decide to be difficult and claim INR.

Basically you have no Paypal seller protection, should the buyer open an INR, you either send to an incomplete address and the buyer wins (as it won't be delivered), or you change the address and the buyer wins.

Either have to take a chance and post to the right house number or cancel the sale and hope CS remove any feedback.
