As the UK's largest delivery firm, YODEL should be doing better than a man and van outfit. Instead we get unanswered phones, uncontactable drivers, 11 hour delivery slots and part time customer services staff who can't speak to anyone involved in distribution.
A potential theft is not something to deal with in office hours only.0 -

I see on these boards quite regularly premature complaints of named companies without giving them an opportunity to resolve their own complaint, this isn't one of those occasions. These are not isolated one off incidents.
I could name another courier company who I had a serious problem with, but it was resolved eventually and a letter of apology sent, I never had further complaint with them except over their pricing. Problems with other couriers include breakages, damaged cartons, severely delayed deliveries, drivers signing and leaving elsewhere, and more, we're hardly the most prolific senders of parcel, but have probably sent 10,000 plus in the last 3 years so expect problems..0 -

Read the link above with over 1,000 reviews with an average score of 1.1/5 when the minimum rating is 1!
Other couriers dont come close to such awful ratings.
I had one awful experience with them a couple of weeks ago when I ordered an item from Amazon. It shipped in 1 day to my local depot and then sat there for over a week without moving. Phone calls to customer services were next to useless. They told me they had sent several emails to the branch but there was no reply. They repeatedly told me that it had been put out for delivery the next day, but wasnt. I asked them to escalate it, and I was told that this required a team leader and would take several days! I then asked them to deliver it on a Saturday as i had waited in most of the week. They told me that they don't deliver on weekends, but then the item was delivered on a Sunday!
Basically slow delivery and appalling customer service with no ability to actually speak to someone at your local branch, or even to someone who has a clue what is happening to your item.
I note that subsequent deliveries of the same item on the same service have come via Hermes, so maybe Amazon have had enough.0 -
Even their own rep, in the amazon offices, was unable to contact them!!0

My parcel from Boots was left outside a neighbours door in the pouring rain!! I was at home all day waiting for the delivery!!0

I can't see why anyone would review a courier if they didn't have a complaint.
"I just received my parcel without any damage to the box or the contents, I must go online and give the courier 5 stars"
that doesn't happen, its pretty much expected that you receive in good time and order, so negative reviews are bound to be the norm, volume probably says a fair amount though.
I spoke to a few resellers last week about a new courier deal and no one even asked why when I said I didn't want to use Yodel, they seem to be floundering as to what they should be doing, taking on work they can't cope with and having no customer support. I wouldn't be surprised to hear stories of them having closed/gone into administration with warehouses full of undelivered parcels.
There will always be stories of couriers not fulfilling a Christmas delivery, I hope I'm wrong but if the big companies continue using them there will be more than just a few of those stories this year..0 -
A friend of mine works for them in our area & a few weeks ago they were all given redundancy notice. Not sure if it's just this branch or nationwide, but if they are under threat of redundancy they probably just don't care enough about their job anymore to actually take care with items.
Obviously not an excuse & certainly doesn't help anyone, but just sharing what I know.0 -
I think the whole delivery service model is creaking to be honest - no-one has the model right for the internet age of mass domestic delivery to people who work all day yet. Postal service can do daily door to door delivery but only for things that fit in a letterbox. Couriers can deliver parcels but not to people who aren't in, and aren't really set up for mass redelivery or local collection.
Personally I think it's a huge opportunity for the grocery retailers. Tescos, Marksies et al. Have parcels sent to them and delivered with your shopping (fee applies) or collect instore where you will hopefully be persuaded to buy stuff.0 -

yodel runs collect+.
this is where your parcels can be sent or collected from your local corner shop. might be a better idea in the future.
