Well PAP,
I too need to lose some weight and it will help a few issues I have in the erm 'ladies' department as well so if you want we can support each other? Have you thought about going on the pill maybe for the hormone help?Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -

i think i need one soon...
lenny ~ :kisses3: thanks hun, still cant read your posts in the same way :rotfl:
bunny ~ pcos is something i wouldnt wish on my worst enemy. I hate it! I am not really being treated for it as they can only treat you if you want children. Where as my symptons they wont treat. Anyways when i did the diet with lenny in august and i lost that weight my body did change for the better so i guess thats what i need to do again... begrudge paying the £9 a month i did last time though so i will dig out my book
dont worry i will sort myself out :j
Hiya Hun...
As Bunny said, sometimes going on the pill can help...... I didn't find out I had PCOS until I came off the pill. If ur syptoms really get u down, they should try to treat it.... Perhaps it might be worth a trip to the doc, or if ur doc isn't very helpful, maybe another one at the practice.... a female maybe....

Sarah,
You are an earth bound angel.
And I agree.

Pap, another PCOS sufferer here so I can sympthasise completely with how you're feeling. I'm not a big one on posting too much personal info on here but felt I had to say that I'm receiving treatment for my PCOS under a consultant at my local hospital and I'm certainly not wanting any children atm. I was put on the pill when I was about 17 as I was finding it hard to cope with my symptoms especially the irregular periods but it didn't help my moods at all and when I was 21 I came off the pill and was referred to a consultant endocrinologist at my local hospital by my gp (by this point I was at Uni and had moved up north). I had various tests and all sorts and I was given metformin to try and about 3 years on my periods are regular once more - I'm loosing weight very gradually but it's going in the right direction and I know with more effort diet and exercise wise I could improve this. I do have the problems with hair and so on and have been offered another treatment to try for that but at the moment I've decided not to atm and see how things go. I'm not saying metformin works for everyone or that everyone can get it but I'm very glad I did and I think you should really try and see a specialist (apologies if you already have - I've only seen what I've read on the last few posts).Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

bunny and sarah, the docs wont allow me to go on the pill because i am too fat:rolleyes: i dont believe that for one second but i hate talking to doctors now so havent fought it. All my docs in my surgery are the same, whatever it is i am seeing them for its because i am overwieght so i never go now. I dont see the point in wasting a valued slot for someone else just for them to trup up the same old same old.
yorkiehiya, I have never been to a consultant. My sister went to the docs when i was about 13 and she was diagnosed with pcos, I then had one period between my 'start' i suppose and i was 17. So at 17 i went to the docs and a lady doc did a blood test and she said the pcos test came back negative and i wouldnt have it anyways as its not gennetic. I took that as the truth and the doctor never did find out why i never had any periods.
Fast forward to 2/3 years ago so 19/20. I had a period that lasted over 4 weeks. I was horrified so i went to another doc and he made me have all the test scans etc and they came back positive. So he put me on metaformin and told me to come back in 12 months and lose 1lb per month. The problem is the tabs caused me so much discomfort (stomach/bowels) i stopped taking them a good 4~6 months agoAlso i could tell no difference (ie periods wernt becoming regulaer etc etc). I have never gone back to that doctor, in fact i havent been back to any doctors since
I am just trying to manage it on my own. Nothing bothers me, having kids doesnt bother me it just all the hair. What upset me most was i think sarah clocked it saturday. I swear i should have been a man. I shaved my legs friday night for the meet, saturday they were already showing through again. I dont care if i am fat but this hair is just ott.
Anyways i shall dig out my pcos book and start my diet again :rolleyes:0 -
Big hugs to you hon. You must go back to the drs again - I know they're useless but just ask for a referral for the hospital perhaps? Might help with your symptoms?

I know totally where ur coming from with the hair...... I have a nice 'river' of it that, if left to its own devices, would pour out of my belly button and keep going IYSWIM.....
