Do as much in advance as possible, I prep all the veg the night before, a glass or 2 of something warming aids the task, if you have a slow cooker use that for the gammon/beef/pork even cook the turkey the night before its easier to carve cold just gently warm thru on the day, above all try to enjoy it x
Thank you, I am trying to figure out how to store the turkey its a fresh one and I never thought about the fact my fridge is going to be full! something warming hmmm coffee seen as I am the designated driver haha

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

Thanks to everyone for your replies, shouldn't really have a moan on here as I know there are people going through a lot worse. Just really struggling at the minute. Normally I can deal with things but its literally a new problem every week and not getting time to deal with one before the next comes along, right after I made my last post I knocked some milk over on the carpet and spent 10 minutes blubbing about it!

With regards to Christmas, there will be my mum and nan (nan is travelling over 200 miles to come up) both elderly and ill so can't really rely on them too much, step dad who hasn't cooked in the last 20 years, brother and his girlfriend who won't be here while literally just as dinner is being put on the table, and then my OH who has already been told he will have to help. I have just never cooked for this many people, and my kitchen & oven isn't big enough and I am thinking why the hell did I offer I should have started small haha.

Again sorry for having a moan.

I haven't read over past post so not sure of the situation....but as for christmas dinner, its all about preparation.
do as much as you can on xmas eve or first thing xmas morning.
I cook my ham xmas eve, as well as power boil my spuds for roasts. cheat with the ready prepared/frozen veg or peel/prep everything first thing. and don't buy a whole turkey, get a turkey crown....

I'm considering having a curry for xmas dinner as its the first christmas day in yrs i'm not cooking for anyone and i'll be only 7wks to due date
    Baby meerkat...born 9.10am 31/1/12 - now a fully fledged monster meerkat.
New Baby meerkat due 09/09/2013 :)

Coolbox and ice packs for the little things in the fridge to make space for t'turkey

you can always change the ice pack every 3 or 4 hours if necessary

if my thinking is right, we'll be having turkey curry for about 6 months after! I'm buying a whole one this year instead of a crown and am going to bulk do curry and chuck it in the freezer in nice little portion sizes. Or, to go with all the basmati rice i have, i'll biryiani it up and freeze that as well

i would quite happily have curry for every meal :-)

Removed before the mods tell me off.

As for the DSs, DS1 has managed to keep down dinner from yesterday and all food today (light options) but DS2 threw up just after his dinner. I'm off to wash his bouncy chair now but at least he's smelly clean & happy now after a bath and cuddles.
