I bought a 3GS on O2 PAYG (£500) over 2yrs ago, after a year got it unlocked and now have a T-Mobile SIM Only sim in it, £7.66 for 600 mins, 500 text, Unlimited Landline and Unlimited'ish Data.
You either pay upfront or pay a higher monthly fee.....
If you want a cheap iPhone than you have to buy a second hand one and run the risk of doing it that way or look at some other type of SmartPhone (that hasn't got a picture of a part eaten piece of fruit on it).
The £500 cost you £41.66 a month for 12 months or £27.77 over 18 months Then £7.66 every month after that.
You could of got a contract for for the same monthly and then sold the phone after 12/18 months and got an upgrade..0 -
You also get better rates if you have a long contract history with your network provider.
I've been with Orange for the last 8 years, always on mid-range contracts and always paying on time, so when the iPhone came out they were happy to offer it to me free on a £25 per month tariff that met all my needs.
Similarly now I have an LG Optimus 3D (which I prefer) on a much better rate than a brand new customer might get.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
O2 have a free refurbished 3GS with a 24 month contract (starting at £10.50 per month) , go via top cash back for £50 cash back.
I got one a month ago and added £3 for data (but keep roaming off most of the time) although it was £101 cash back then. The phone looked brand new to me.0 -
A lot dont really afford the phone its a must have for some and they dont want to see the price they are paying .
Others can afford the phone and some even use the feature's on the phone and get value .
Not a route i go down i prefer SGS2 unlocked from O2 at £400 plus PAYG with GiffGaff .
Usage location services mapping email Kindle and other book readers radio camera backed up note taking voice notes/recording tweets
new weather traffic camera vies so yes i think i get my £400 out of the phone .

All Apple products are rip off. How people can afford it that is upto their financial situation. Some people clearly can't afford but that's why we got the economic situation in the first place (i.e. spending beyond means).Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

we use iphones as company phones, you can get a much better deal on a business tariff. If I were buying a phone outright, id never buy from apple; great phones but wayyyy to expensive.0

i wouldnt say the iphne is worth the extra i had a 3g couple of years ago and while i got on with it it was nothing specialWhat goes around-comes around0

I suppose I can see the appeal of iphones and other similar phones but the price tag and monthly bill do not appeal one bit.
I have a nokia PAYG - i keep looking because I would like to upgrade but without spending in excess of £100 (which I don't have), I wouldn't get anything better. when my current phone dies, I suspect I shall be buying the cheapest replacement model possible!0 -

He's already got an iPhone4 16GB on 3 - not sure if this was an official 3 mobile advertisement or what ...

I bought the Iphone 4s 32gb for £599 from Apple and use GiffGaff @ £10 pm, I am a low user and never had an Apple product before but love it and use it all the time for everything apart from calls!0
