Tesco mobile phone repair question

Hi all,
I'd appreciate thoughts on a mobile phone problem I'm currently having.
I purchased a HTC Smart from Tesco mobile phone shop in December 2010. A few months ago the phone developed a fault where, intermittently, no sound would come out of the phone whilst the alarm was going off and no sound notification came from the phone when I received calls or texts.
I took the phone back to the store and they organised for the phone to be sent off for repair. I was more than happy with this as I like the phone and was hopeful that it could be repaired. After it came back, they had replaced a part and said the fault was rectified. Well, it turned out that the fault hadn't actually been fixed and the sound problems were still present. I returned the phone to the Tesco phone shop again, and it was sent off for repair for a second time. When the phone was returned to me there was a letter with it saying that the fault had been found and fixed. Turns out that the phone is still having the same problems despite being 'repaired' on two occasions.
Needless to say I'm getting quite fed up of the problems now. Am I entitled to ask for a refund given that Tesco's have already tried to repair the phone twice without success? The chap in Tesco's told me that their policy is to send the phone off for repair 3 times.
The phone is still under the original 12 month warranty (just) and I was told that after repair the warranty is extended by a further 3 months.
Any help or advice anyone can offer would be much appreciated. It's difficult to know where I stand.

yes they have 3 attempts before they have to look at replacing.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
