Hi, I got my soapnuts from eb*y. I bought the 500gm bag but I am wishing I got more now. Will be reordering soon, not cuz you use them up quick but because I like a stockpile of stuff. They are apparantly multi-purpuse and mine came with instructions on everything from washing clothes to washing hair, so you might be able to save a small fortune if you used them for all that.
They smell a bit sweet, but dont leave any sort of smell on clothes. I have been adding a tiny bit of softener just to give it a bit of fragrance.
I think they are great and they have even managed to get the school coats clean this weekend, and coffee stains out of a cream coloured hoodie, so they have passed my test.
I would say try buying a small bag and if they are not for you, you haven't lost out.
    HTH:)
Also, I hade £30 ON EB*Y over the weekend. Will add total when I have posted the stuff off.

Thanks nomi - is there a particular seller you'd recommend? Feel free to pm it to me if you don't want to put it on here. Was thinking of getting them to wash the baby clothes in as I know they're meant to be good for sensitive skin.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Well I've just ordered the soap nuts, so although I've an intial outlay, it should save us some money in the long-rung - told my husband about them last night, and he told me I should go for it and they sound good. Just need to get showered and dressed and then head to the postbox to post the cheque and go and put in my repeat prescription at the dr (free as pregnant :) ).

Oh my we are quite a way through this month now aren't we....and I haven't really doen anything to save any money! I am going to transfer my interest of £12.57 for this month over to my 2012 account plus I'll add on the fiver that I used an old gift card for in Boots. I think I'll also include the £4.88 I got back from Lakeland for the fact that my washing basket broke (they have a lifetime guarantee and although I'm still able to use it I wanted to see what the lifetime guarnatee actually meant...that company have the best customer service I've ever come accross!!). So that's a tiny way towards my total for this month!

I know you're over half way through the challenge now, but is it too late to join? I originally signed up for the 'save 12K in 2012' challenge but we unexpectedly decided to buy a house this year which has been very expensive and so that challenge has now sadly been given up on. However, i would like to save at least something by the end of the year so £2012 seems like a good amount to set myself.

Not been on here for months due to exams but now that they are out of the way and I had [STRIKE]a month[/STRIKE] a short period of time to recover, I am going to pick up this money saving challenge again.

Will try my best to reach the £2012 mark but realistically would be happy if I reach the £1500 mark.
