Doesn't that apply to items returned under the 30-day MBG as well though?

yes pound it does. we have floor to ceiling signs at customer services in our store which clearly state that items returned under the 30 day MBG must be returned unused in their original undamaged packaging and with the reciept. because of the abuse of our policies (eg people claiming that something is faulty just to get a refund) we've really started to clamp down harshly on returns. unfortunately, the people who are worst affected by this are the innocent joe and jane blogs, who now find it harder to get a refund because of the behaviour of a minority.
