to be fair, that was not argos' fault, but they didn't help the situation.
The problems with the Wii was that not everyone who pre-ordered got a wii delivered on release day (8th Dec).
People didn't like the way Argos dealth with letting people know whether they got one or not, it came down to waiting on the 7th dec to see if you got the automated phone call saying you got one. If you rang CS they couldn't tell you (even AFTER you had the auto phone call - i tried!)
It was all up in the air until the very last minute.
I was one of the luckys who managed to bag myself one, and no, I wasn't first in queue to pre-order, in fact I pre-ordered late November.
Basically, some consoles were help up and the way it was decided whether you got one was down to where you were in relation to the delivery depots that were assigned a shipment.
I live within 20 mile radius hence getting one. Some people who ordered really early on thought they would be safe as they could apply the "first come, first served" rule which most shops use, unfortunately, in the case it came down to location.
So after my little story, the only reason to be worried about argos is their (then) lame communication. But if they learned anything from the Wii experience, then they won't be making the communication error again.
If i had the money (and the HD TV) I would pre-order from argos (or mebbe somewhere where I could collect.. I HATE waiting for deliveries!!!!)
Just to massive 2 centsembarrassed to say I used to work for barclays..sorry0 -

it not being listed as exempt from the moneyback guarantee is a glitch yet to be picked up on. it will be exempt from the moneyback guarantee because all consoles/hardware is exempt from the moneyback guarantee.
also, do not be fooled into thinking that the distance selling regulations offer a cop out. if you order for home delivery but break the security seal on the box which the console comes in, it is almost certain that refund will be refused.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Don,t break the seal then!0
