i recently cancelled (due to be cancelled in 2 weeks) 2x o2/cpw lines and got confirmation letters, and emails. i'm guessing you never got letters and did your lines stop working after the agreed termination date?

I suppose your texts and emails if they state the things you are claiming might stand some chance if you go to court. But before any of that happens double check everything you have done, phone bills that show you calling the customer services I guess can help. Dont let them get away with it.

when u cancelled, did u phone o2, cashback company or both? also did o2 try to offer you a better direct non cashback deal?

My two contracts with CPW ended in the first week of November.

No the minimum term of these contracts ended in the first week of November.

After speaking to numerous individuals no one told me that I would continue to be billed after this date. I cancelled the direct debit as I would do at the end of any agreement. I continued to receive bills and letter and this week received letters from a debt collection company who were absolutely vile when I spoke to them on the phone.

Essentially, despite requesting to cancel the contract in writing,

When did you actually cancel the contract in writing?

and them admitting their error in not issuing the PAC codes for the two phones,

You either request a PAC or give the required notice to cancel the contract. If you actually use a PAC, it cancels the contract automatically.

I have had to pay £160 for outstanding bills from Nov to now. I have been so frustrated with One Stop Phone Shop, who my dealings have been with that I want to go to small claims court, a prospect that un-nerves me and I'm sure the corporate bullies will win. I couldn't sleep last night as I am so frustrated with the way I've been treated.

How on earth am I going to rectify this and get my money back? I live outside London and am tempted to go to their HQ and deliver a letter personally for Charles Dunstone, whom I have never received a response from despite writing previously.

There are so many details to my concerns and it will bore you all to tears! However, I have been completely up to date in my dealings with them, and I'm embarassed to say I've been in tears twice now because of this.

    Can anyone provide any advice?

It depends exactly what you did and when. It sounds like you misunderstood the 12 month minimum term rolling contract and by cancelling the DD without correctly giving notice to terminate your contracts, you have triggered the debt collectors, so it doesn't look good.

No I didn't, I'd be pretty stupid to do that now wouldn't I!!!! However, bet the fact that all this has happened made you wonder now didn't it
    Not at all.

I'm actually quite interested in this area, and I've been doing a bit of 'research' into mobile phone contracts.

There is virtually so little law - a fact confirmed by Trading Standards - covering this area, it's not unreasonable to call it unregulated, another fact confirmed by Trading Standards.

Mobile co's can almost do as they wish, and there is no-one to go to about it. The fact that they don't (or do and we don't see it) is probably only down to word of mouth.

For instance, 3 have supposedly withdrawn from CW's cashback system because of CW's 'dirty tricks' with customers. My guess is that this was partly due to the number of people calling 3 to complain. I did and spoke to a complaints manager about CW, and he was very familiar with CW's poor reputation.

It's definitely buyer beware at the moment.
The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.
